myhousekey
Just got off the phone with a friend of mine who works for them. He said they just got off a conference call with Tags and Benson and the Saints are coming home. Confirmed by ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2275139 An agreement in principle struck between owner Tom Benson and NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue will return the New Orleans Saints to Louisiana for practice in 2006, and likely for the entire regular-season schedule. Pope Flick
I did to. Probably a poor choice of initials. . . 1241831 Boy some people complain about anything: does the phrase "coming home" and the word "return" mean Los Angeles to any teams other than the Rams or Raiders? Good for the NFL -and of course Nawlins-, they have always been savvy about things like this which is why they're the best run sport in the country, if not the world. No more tents. Thank God. I hope they stay there. They may be able to but being there for 2006 may help. I heard on the radio the state gets no revenue from oil or natural gas taken from the state because of an old lawsuit. And if they got the same revenue as other states they could rebuild themselves. I heard it is going through congress now. If true they should be able to rebuild and make NO stronger.

The Irish Doggy
Yeah, I read L.A. not LA too. I thought to myself, "I didn't know the Saints once played in California."

Gonkis
Why would the Saints play in Nothern Oregon?
Chief Dick
I believe the conference call went something like this: Tags: "That team is staying in New Orleans whether you like it or not. If you even THINK about moving that team anymore I will fly down there and personally kick your ass." Benson "OK."

Bill Swerski
Good for them. I'm still skeptical about whether it can work out in the long-term or not. But this is good news so far.

Bill Swerski
"Whether the state can afford to keep subsedizing the team or not!" 1243072 Looks like the NFL is going to be subsidizing the Saints next year. It sure as hell isn't going to be the city or state.
