URLACHERisGOD
It takes time for players to gel in a scheme and that winning streak you saw at the end of the year was more of a reflection of better defense being played than Brad Johnson. An easy schedule sure didn't hurt either though. Now they ALL get to learn a new scheme. But supposedly the cover 2 is very simplistic compared to what Cottrell was calling. 1387293 Now with the new coach, we'll be hearing the "We're in a re-building phase" excuse for the next 3 to 4 years. By that time, all these guys the Vikes have signed the past two years will have retired. What happened to the new / young up & coming team the Vikes were supposed to have 3 years ago? Face it. The Vikes are 0-4 in the Superbowl and the first number in that is never going to change.

Yukon Cornelius
I've heard Longwell sucks at kickoffs and can't reach the endzone. I'm disappointed we didn't land Vinatieri instead. 1387247 nope ask the cowboy fans they would have rather had longwell

Ursa Majoris
My grade of the VikingsChester Taylor (BAL) RB / D / already have better RB on team, M Moore Ryan Longwell (GB) K / B- / nice signing Ben Leber (SD) LB / c- / below average starter Steve Hutchinson (SEA) G / B / money paid was rediculous, nice player. Tony Richardson (KC) FB / D / How old is he again Mike McMahon (PHI) QB / D / As a #3, not bad Tank Williams (TEN) SS / B / Upgrades the position. DeQuincy Scott (SD) DE / D / De who? exactly. Overall Grade C- . Hutch is great, but at that price, cost you a legit RB like Edge or Alexander when he was available. Losing Moss and Culpepper in consecutive years put this franchise back 5 yrs, and signing Richardson, and starting Brad Johnson and Chester Taylor compares favorably to Dallas a few yrs back with Quincy Carter and Troy hambrick, flat out awful, and who is the teams #1 Wr, or #2 for that matter. I just dont see what the Queens are doing with this franchise. The new coach cant shut his mouth, ran off Culpepper, and is showing to be a poor evaluator of talent thus far, and severly overspending to lure the quality talent he has acquired, in Hutch, a OG. I dont dislike the Vikings and actually bought into the hype they might be better off without Randy last yr and completely bought into the additions on defense last yr and predicted this team to compete for the NFC Championship. But now I just dont see this as a respectable offense, and the defense is full of players, but no chemistry and little coaching, last yr anyway. 1386310 Pretty darned accurate assessment here, methinks. Except the bit about not disliking the Vikings. I an less than impressed with the new coach - I think / hope he's going to be a disaster. TecmoBeast
They resigned Koren Robinson right off the bat too. That was a good signing. He was eligible to become a FA. But he isn't a new player. Hutch, now that was robbery. Sure it's too much to pay a guard. But you gotta agree with the strategy if you have that much cap space. Seattle wanted to match the offer so he must be worth it. To appreciate the Chester Taylor signing, you have to realize that he's half the price of Edge with half the mileage. No prior ACL injury. Edge is flashy with his gold tooth... a guy like that probably doesn't show up for voluntary workouts. Longwell was good bang for the buck. He's accurate, he's going to a dome, plus he's from a divisional rival. Maybe Childress carries a kickoff specialist? I like the signings so far. The Vikes are going in the right direction, that's for sure. But the reality is they are learning new schemes, it might be a rough first season, especially on defense. But Brad Johnson knows the system, huge plus there. They got the look of a running team and that gets me excited. There is lots of talent on this team. They might surprise. The Seahawks still have a powerful O-Line... but we can say the same about the Vikings now too. Especially since Hutch will be placed right next to a couple Pro-bowlers, which will compliment him quite nicely.

Moss6
Or this year when we WON THE NFC NORTH! 1387528 Yep, and the Bears vaunted "D" being exposed by the Cats. I do not see the division being any thing better then it has the last 5-6 years. A toss up between 2-3 teams

When they first hired Childress, I said he was the most overrated coaching candidate on the market. He's an OC who didn't even call his own plays. Plus, a guy with REAL head-coaching ability in him would not have let one of his own players (TO) severely damage the team like that. You guys might say T.O. is impossible, but Childress got to deal with him all the time. He certainly didn't do anything to help the situation. Anyway, everything Childress has done so far only reinforces my opinion that he is and will be a horrible HC.

For that fact how about the Patriots when they won their first SB over St Louis?? (Brady was still an unknown and they didn't have Dillon yet) Also, How many superbowls did MN reach with C-Pep and Moss??? How many SB's has INDY won with their GREAT skill players??? Seattle won a Superbowl with their great Skill players, NOT :doah: Fantasy Football championships rely on great skill players, But it is FANTASY.
