satelliteoflovegm
I was wondering how many teams with Peyton Manning were able to overcome the inherent weakness at other spots in order to get Manning. Perhaps note keeper or re-draft. In both my keeper and redraft the team with Peyton did not win the championship. The teams that won keeper league had Carson Palmer...The winner of the re-draft had Jake Plummer as normal starters. I hypothesize not many Manning teams won it all. 2005 was a down year but neither team in 2004 won with him either.
Bier Meister
i think it had less to do with Payton, and more to do with the abrupt change in offensive sheme. they had a dramatic change to rely on the run more substancially than their scheme in 04. and that's what resulted in a "poor" manning year. Capt Skinman
I won OUTRAGED with P. Manning but had to do some trading to make it happen. Manning S. Smith C. Johnson J. Galloway R. Johnson all took me to the promised land.
Sugar Magnolia
I won OUTRAGED with P. Manning but had to do some trading to make it happen. Manning S. Smith C. Johnson J. Galloway R. Johnson all took me to the promised land. In one of my leagues-a 10 team league- I was in first place with Peyton him traded him for R. Moss and A. Green, who then both got hurt a couple weeks later. I think I made the trade around week 5-can't remember. At the time it seemed like a good trade. My WR, Joe Horn was hobbling, and I had Kevin Jones who wasn't producing. My back-up QB was Hasselback, so I had a good QB to start. I still don't think I would have won if I didn't make the trade, although Manning's stats got better as the season wore on. I ended up in 5th place. I had the last pick in the first round and took Manning, then got Rudi as my next serpentine pick. Kevin Jones had fallen to the 3rd round because the second round was a run on stud WR's, and a Culpepper pick. K.Jones seemed like a bargain pick at the time, so I thought I had a great draft. I didn't have a stud at WR- it was Horn and Lelie, so that's where I paid the price for taking Manning early. I renamed my team The Injured Reserve. I did make it to the SB (but lost) in 2004 with Manning as my QB. I am NOT taking Manning early this year. Last year I saw the draft deep in decent RB's (although that turned out not to be true). This year the pickings seem quite slim to me with all the RBBC talk, injury prone players, and unprovens.

twiley
I don't think anyone that drafted Manning early in my leagues won.

matt770
I drafted Manning early in only one league and finished 9th, by far my worst performance last year. That team also had D. Davis though.
RokoMotion
The guy who took Manning in my redraft last year took second. I took First. Thank God for Larry Johnson and Steve Smith.

VikesGuy
Keeper auction I helped push the price up on Manning cause i knew he really wanted him. Needless to say he wasn't left with much money to draft the rest of his team. So no he didn't even make the playoffs. The team who won it had SA and SS. blips
One man doesn't make the team. Last year I rode LJ all the way to the championship. The one person who could have stopped me was Steve Smith but the week I faced him in the playoffs he got kicked out of the game.
Kremlin Tide
Yep....Peyton took 1st in our redraft league. QB heavy points, but it wasn't Peyton that helped him win. It was more Larry Johnson than anything. And the kicker...I had to draft that guys team because he had to go out of town on some last minute business.... satelliteoflovegm
I have never owned him except his rookie year. But I was trying to think if had the 1.11-12 would I take him. I think the answer is no. But I do think he is going to throw 40+ tds easy. Better to load up on his targets later than him early.
LooGie
I think Steve Smith was the "promise land express" for almost everyone last year, providing they got him around Round 7 or so, like I did. Or palmer was a big winner for alot of teams too, i think. I picked him up around Round 6 and grabbed LaMont in round
