Big Score 1
According to Profootballtalk.com editor Mike Florio, there was a huge blowup at team headquarters after Sunday's loss -- and the problems spilled over into Monday. According to Florio, the issue arose shortly after Sunday's loss, when defensive coordinator Ed Donatell got in offensive coordinator Greg Knapp's face regarding the inability of the offense to sustain drives, which resulted in the defense being on the field for too long. Word is that Donatell blamed several injuries sustained by his troops on the poor play of the offense -- because the defensive players were exhausted late in the game. Florio was also told that, on Monday, owner Arthur Blank summoned Donatell and Knapp to his office, and that Blank wouldn't allow Mora inside the room until Blank had a chance to talk with them. After the four men met, Knapp was angry -- and word is that Knapp is openly blaming the performance of the offense on the limited passing skills of Vick. Nice. Men In Tights
Give Knapp credit, sometimes the truth hurts, but it is afterall, the truth. But after reading the other post, and the Sporting News article about Vick, it appears everyone in the NFL knows Vick can't pass, except for Vick himself. kerwin8
Greg Knapp is doing a horrible job as OC in Atlanta. I hope the Falcons follow the Ravens and Cardinals and ditch the guy ASAP. Not that Vick is doing anything to help the guy's job security. If I recall correctly, Vick actually mentioned in an interview recently that he would prefer it if Mora let Vick call some of his own plays. I would like to see that, if only for a single drive or so, just to see how he handles it (hopefully a little better than he handles the football itself). Big Score 1
Greg Knapp = Vick hater. We should flame him. I think Knapp is finally working out the deep seated issues he's been harboring ever since the very public tongue lashing TO gave him a few years back in San Fran. The man obviously has some severe internal id crisis's and is simply using Vick as his whipping boy.
Rockerbraves
Nice. Can't see the Falcons benching Vick anytime soon so they better find an OC that knows how to utilize his skills.
Bill Swerski
I think Knapp is finally working out the deep seated issues he's been harboring ever since the very public tongue lashing TO gave him a few years back in San Fran. The man obviously has some severe internal id crisis's and is simply using Vick as his whipping boy. He has issues because T.O. berated him? Then I suppose that McNabb, Andy Reid, Jeff Garcia, Drew Bledsoe, and countless other people around the NFL have issues as well. If anybody looks like they have issues in this scenario, it's Donatell. You don't get up in your co-worker's face because his subordinates aren't performing well. That's highly unprofessional. And blaming his players' injuries on Vick? That's just stupid. And why would Knapp be angry at Vick after DONATELL got in his face? And why he publically throw the franchise player under the bus, even if he is a crappy passer? Methinks that Profootballtalk is full of it. Chavez
BigScore's post was a tongue-in-cheek response to mine. To wit - anytime anyone puts forth a measure criticism of Vick (which generally reads "phenomenal athlete and his running ability can't be discounted but he needs to be a better passer"), that person will be called a "hater" who "doesn't get it." Knapp criticizing Vick would thus make the Falcon's OC ALSO a "hater who doesn't get it."

I would like to see that, if only for a single drive or so, just to see how he handles it (hopefully a little better than he handles the football itself). Now THAT I'd like to see. Vick calling his own plays. There is not one - not even T.O. - player in the NFL that overvalues his own abilties and underestimates his own weaknesses than Michael Vick. You know, they ought to let him call his own plays for a couple of series. That would be a serious lesson in humility for Vick (if he were capable of understanding that. I'm sure he'd just find someone else to blame when he failed miserably.)
Big Score 1
Vick calling his own plays. Now THAT I'd like to see. As much as I enjoy watching Vick, to see what incredible play he's going to rip off this week, that would be an unmitigated disaster. I'm reminded of the story of the horrible actor mangling Hamlet - he gets up on stage and from the get-go he is just TERRIBLE; the audience sits through it for a few scenes, and then begins to start razzing and booing him to get off the stage. The actor takes it for 10 minutes or so, and then turns to the audience and yells "why don't you guys come up here and try working with this sh*t?" LooGie
I think ATL should give Dan Reeves a call. I know he was interested in the HOU HC job, and might even still be hanging around that camp. If you could get Dan Reeves as an OC (granted, the money you'd have to pay him would be pretty laughable..but this IS ATL we're talking about) he could use Vick great, and acutally teach Mora a thing or two. I guess it would never work, Reeves under Mora, and as a Panther fan. THANK GOD FOR THAT! Edited October 21, 2006 by LooGie
CD6405
All you haters are just mad that God gave Vick the gift of being perfect in every facet physically, and ignored giving you guys anything. The only person that comes close to being able to tackle Vick alone is Teddy Bruschi with his Divine Aura given directly to him from God's hand. Todd1
Why don't they give up on this experiment and let him be a Pro Bowl Wide Receiver or Running Back?
