... as well as a Gershwin one. I also go for anything Bing Crosby, especially White Christmas.

Two of my favorites, with Bing numero uno by a mile.

...and I despise anything Manheim Steamroller. Their synthesized crap sucks Christmas balls.

+1

the wife and I enjoy Harry Conick

Also +1.

Nobody has mentioned the Neil Diamond Christmas? :D

Vince Guraldi - A Charlie Brown Christmas :D Hands down winner

Jimmy Smith - Christmas Cookin' - Az, you would like this one.

Christmas with the Canadian Brass

Harry Connick Jr. - When my Heart Finds Christmas

Johnny Mathis - He is for me, what I think Bing Crosby was to my parents generation, very nostalgic.

Along those same lines for me are the Mormon Tabernacle, Ray Connif Singers, and the Robert Shaw Corale.

Also, being the Trekkie that I am, I have a 2 disc set of Patrick Stewart reading Dickens: A Christmas Carol. :D Really, it's quite good.

a couple years ago i put together a jazz (mostly) compilation mix of christmas stuff some of which, like a couple tracks from charlie brown, everyone's probably heard, but most of which was fairly obscure and pulled from non-christmas CDs. i pull it out every xmas season and enjoy. if anyone would like a copy, shoot me a PM with your address. of course i reserve the right to ignore if you're a newbie, asstard, or both.

Walter Brennen - T'was the night before Christmas...Back Home

Elvis's Christmas Album

Leon Redbone - Christmas Island

Merry Christmas - Johnny Mathis

Harry Simone Choral - Drummer Boy

Dr. Demento presents - The Greatest Christmas Novelty CD of All Time

Are some of my favorites.

Mostly I take all the albums, tapes, and cd's, I have and make compilation cd's.

I might also suggest The Four Seasons Christmas Album. :D

Walter Brennan! I'm young/old enough to know who he is. :D

Got the Leom Redbone on the way courtesy of lala.com .

Well, considering the crap that is served up as music now, Leon is anything but an aquired taste. :D

After seeing this thread I went & sifted thru what's left of my CD collection. Still had to clean the mud off of a few, but listening to Guaraldi as I type. I am so ready for this Christmas! :D I've also got BB King locked & loaded, unfortunately my Gershwin CD is MIA & Michelle's favorite Jewel Christmas cd is beyond recovery. Time to restock the Christmas collection. :D

Guaraldi

NKC (Christmas Song mostly)

Bing's White Christmas

Burl Ives' Holly Jolly Christmas

Christmas music from class Rudolph and whatver that Fred Astaire-led Santa animation was called

...all are musts.

After that certain Manheim Steamroller songs are good, various jazz ones, classic crooners croonin, some Windham Hill, etc.

But for the love of God, NO KENNY G. Never mind the hypocrisy of being Jewish but he's one of the lamest sax players I've ever heard.

PS oh yeah: am I the only one old enough to have grown up with Ray Conniff?

8 - Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer - Elmo & Patsy

Anyone who plays this should be shot.

12 - I'm A Christmas Tree - Wild Man Mischer
So THAT'S who that is (I assume it's the one I'm thinking of). First time I heard that I was kinda going wtph and lmao @ the same time.

EDIT: I'd rather chew glass than play any now though. Don't start till about 2d week of Dec if that. Christmas music in Nov? No thanks.
