SheikYerbuti
The other day I passed a guy in a brand new Hummer H3 pulled over on the side of the road. He was putting gas into that monster with one of those little 2 gallon red gas cannisters. As I said to the Shiekette: "That pretty much sums it up. . . DMD
Said that I would lose $500 a month if I traded in my vehicle for a more economical one.

Big John
DMD's Town & Country is a BEAUT!! He drives a Jeep, but puts in very few miles as he walks just a few feet from his bed to his job.

MikesVikes
The other day I passed a guy in a brand new Hummer H3 pulled over on the side of the road. He was putting gas into that monster with one of those little 2 gallon red gas cannisters. As I said to the Shiekette: "That pretty much sums it up. . . SheikYerbuti
He drives a Jeep, but puts in very few miles as he walks just a few feet from his bed to his job. So I guess DMD's commute to work looks something like this. . .
I Like Soup
I don't even need that calculator to tell you I should turn in my gas guzzler...14mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway...ouch.
DMD
So I guess DMD's commute to work looks something like this. . . Actually is it eight tiles north, 5 tiles west, 18 tiles north then 2 tiles east. Traffic is typically light unless the yard guys are here and then I have to dodge my dog running back and forth from the front and back doors. Ursa Majoris
I don't even need that calculator to tell you I should turn in my gas guzzler...14mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway...ouch. I get 16 / 26 but since I only have a six mile commute, I don't care.
Randall
My pickup with the 350 4 barrel is parked. Makes a good mobile storage shed.
Front Row
12 mpg in my pickemup, translates to about $500 a mo. If I could just figure a way to carry my construction equipment on my scoot.
H8tank
About 10mpg pulling the boat, and then burn about 15gph running around the lake. Don't let the terrorist win!

Jimmy Neutron
I alternate driving the Accord and Tahoe 12 miles to work. I like the Accord for fuel economy, but that's it. The Tahoe is more comfortable, easier to get in and out of and offers better road visibility. The Honda gets exactly twice the mileage. twiley
I would lose over $600 a month if I traded in my "guzzler". No thanks.
Seattle LawDawg
I drive a Tahoe but typically take the train to and from work. I've spent enough hours sitting in traffic. It's not uncommon for me to go a couple of months between filling up but when I do, I'm usually on a fishing trip. Tough to find an economic car that can pull a boat. I am trying to get rid of my current boat though. It's making about 1.7 mpg and after filling the 37 gallon tank, I can easily empty it in a day. Time for a four-stroke. whoopazz
http://politicalcalculations.blogspot.com/...as-guzzler.html Flawed calculation and grossly simpled minded. No provisions for refining and transporting the fuel, nor long term environmental impacts, nor impact on overall fossil fuel supplies. All of which, kids, you will pay for one way or another.
