skylive5
Glory Glory Man United. I actually discovered recently that I have this on tape recorded from radio. Unfortunately that isn't a song that is a song. Don't want to use school fight songs .... looking more for songs that have been on the hit parade type of songs. I do have it though. Cyclones
"Big Leagues" by Tom Cochrane and Red Rider. May not be a widely known song in American Circles but was a hugh hit in Canada.
millerx
Ugh...tougher than I thought. Not sure if either of these fit your criteria, but: 1. Rod Stewart's "You're in my Heart" has a line "You're Celtic United, but baby I've decided, your the best team I've ever seen". 2. And since I have four kids, I am very familiar with High School Musical's "Get Your Head in the Game"...may be too teeny-bopper for your liking. I'll keep thinking. And I hope they are ALL girls?!?! gilthorp
Sky, not sure what you'll think of this, but I've been listening to the Tragically Hip for many years now and one of the coolest stories told is in a song called "Fifty Mission Cap", it's on the Fully Completely album. It's about Bill Barilko and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Bill Barilko disappeared that summer, he was on a fishing trip. The last goal he ever scored won the Leafs the cup They didn't win another until 1962, the year he was discovered. I stole this from a hockey card, I keeped tucked up under my fifty mission cap, I worked it in to look like that

They get NO respect in the states (i've heard they get some airplay in border towns like Detroit, etc.)
gilthorp
Gil, The Hip are my favorite band. What got you exposed to them? They get NO respect in the states (i've heard they get some airplay in border towns like Detroit, etc.) They are loved here in Chicago...loved. WXRT has been on them since Day For Night... The first song I personally heard from them was Courage many years ago. I've turned them on to everyone I can because Gord's a poet and they are a real rock band. They have multiple, many-many excellent songs. Some of my personal favorites are Grace, Too---Escape Is at Hand for the Traveling Man---Vapor Trails----I could easily list 40 or 50 songs. I've got everything they've done that's been produced commercially.
