pig devilz
sorry, not possible to pick one... but, Peace in the Valley 5 feet high and rising (think thats the title) Ring of fire and on and on......
SheikYerbuti
I still think his recording of NIN's "Hurt" is one of the most haunting songs ever recorded. Perfectly produced by Rick Rubin, heartbreakingly performed by Cash.
Chavez
Simple question. Mine? Alannis Morrisette could learn something about irony from that one.
pig devilz
yeh, the haunting part about that is he knew he was dying when he recorded it.....freaky
Chavez
Tough to pick one, true dat. Up-tempo, I really like "Get Rhythm"; his versions of "alternative" tunes are all great - "Hurt" has been mentioned, but his "Personal Jesus" and "Rusty Cage" are good stuff as well. He also does a terrific version "Bridge Over Troubled Water." I REALLY like "I Still Miss Someone" when done by Emmylou Harris or Roseanne Cash. Does that count? Chargerz
I still like the best. "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die."

SheikYerbuti
Not to hijack, but does any artist of the last 50 years have fans from a wider base than Neil Young? He's like the hub of a wheel with so many spokes: Rock musicians love him for stuff with Crazy Horse Folkies love him for the CSNY stuff Grunge embraced him when Cobain and Vetter hit the scene and declared him the godfather of the Seattle sound. Country fans were pulled in when he and Lynard went at it with the whole "Southern Man"/"Sweet Home Alabama" rift and his involvement in Farm Aid It goes on and on. He's the man. That's a pretty good call, actually. Racking my brain I can't come up with anyone else but maybe Jimmy Buffett. Not in terms of crossing over into various genres of music, but from a generational thing... revelers of all ages love a good Buffett tune. Puddy
Like a bunch of 'em. By listening to his music on Pandora.com I came across a few songs by his brother Tommy (he even has a "Very Best" album). Similar sound to Johnny. Came to love "Sx White Horses". Give it a listen if you haven't yet.

I drove a truck for a week once where that CD was stuck in the player. It was either silence, or that CD. I must have played it 20 times in a row.
