i_am_the_swammi
Didn't browse the entire thread, but... Was The Outfield mentioned? Their song "Your Love" was a top-10 smash in the late 80's, but I don't think they ever charted again Edited December 18, 2008 by i_am_the_swammi
SheikYerbuti
Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover yeah that was a big hit. I forget how many weeks that was at #1. It won a Grammy, and was actually a quality song. More than you can say about 90% of the crap in this thread. Azazello1313
there are a lot of acts getting mentioned that I don't consider one hit wonders. namely, bobby mcferrin, wall of voodoo, eric johnson....acts with sustained careers and a number of followers that maybe had one big "mainstream" hit, but accomplished a lot more. Chavez
The Knack - My Sharona (1979) The Archies - Sugar, Sugar (1969) The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony (1997) Falco - Rock me Amadeus (1985) Deee-Lite - Groove is in the heart (1990) Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting (1974) Those are just great, great songs....IMO "Sugar Sugar" has a strong case for being the best pop song EVER. Meredith Brooks - Bitch (1997) The part where she says she's a "goddess on her knees" always conjures an enticing image for me. Semisonic - Closing Time (1998) Heh, this song was popular when the wife and I met (damn, that seems a while ago and not that long at the same time), always brings a smile to our faces. Europe - The Final Countdown (1986) This could be the worst hard-rock song ever put to tape.

piratesownninjas
The Faith No More hit was better than most one hitters. Not a one hit wonder. Faith No More made several albums before hanging it up to persue solo projects. Last Cup of Sorrow was on heavy rotation on MTV upon it's release. piratesownninjas
It won a Grammy, and was actually a quality song. More than you can say about 90% of the crap in this thread. And one of the few G3 acts that is listenable.
bushwacked
Not a one hit wonder. Faith No More made several albums before hanging it up to persue solo projects. Last Cup of Sorrow was on heavy rotation on MTV upon it's release. I have several FNM albums and a fan of Mike Patton's solo stuff and side projects. Epic was on VH1's one hit wonder countdown. Are you taking the "they were too established" POV to consider them a one hit wonder or did they have another hit besides Epic?
