Bronco Billy
They did him a favor IMO. I'm pretty sure he'll latch on somewhere this season. Did him a favor? How so? Are there other QBs that will place the ball better than right in his hands - which he drops despite that - like both Flynn and Wilson did? Maybe some QB with a rocket arm who can make the ball stick in his facemask or asscrack? Between that and his routinely misrunning routes badly, I'm having a difficult time seeing any team wanting him and his baggage. Owens is done. Put a fork in him. Grits and Shins
I don't think TO ever really had to work hard to be a top WR at any level ... he was able to excel with pure raw talent alone. Now that father time has reached out and slapped TO I don't believe TO has the necessary work ethic and attitude to extend his career. When your skills on the field put you in the top 5 of your position teams are willing to overlook baggage and attitude ... but as soon as your skills drop off then you better figure out how to work hard and be a team player (and who thinks that describes TO in any way, shape or form). TO made this bed and now has to sleep in it ... when you consider everybody to be your inferior your whole life is it really a surprise that nobody is willing to cut you slack when the reality check hits? Now that father time has reached out and slapped TO I don't believe TO has the necessary work ethic and attitude to extend his career. I'm of the opinion that TO's play on a fractured fibula in the superbowl with Eagles had at least something to do with work ethic or any kind of creative intangible you want to attribute above and beyond pure raw talent. Father time catches up with all pro athletes regardless of their work ethic; I think TO is still in pretty remarkable shape and the primary reason he got cut was because former soon to be superstar Braylon Edwards performed well this pre-season while facing his own NFL career mortality at the age of 29. bushwacked
If only this could have been predicted. This ending was not entirely surprising, but, despite being cut before the last game of preseason, I still think TO was on the verge of being a Week 1 starter for this particular team. However, the earlier predictions on this board of TO devastating the development of Seattle's future HOFr young WR core while spreading locker room cancer and setting the franchise back decades almost certainly won't happen either. cre8tiff
It is hard to ignore those drops. There has to be something physically wrong there. I hope the Rams don't come calling.

Well let's just say neither side was really right. Some were treating it like a great signing, claiming there was little to no risk when most people who've followed TO knew there was a chance it would create some trouble at some point. I guess the Seahawks realized just how washed up he was, and cut him nice and early, before he could become a distraction. As for another team signing him, I highly doubt it but then there are teams out there who are desperate, maybe just for the media attention that comes with having TO on your team. PS I also wouldn't count on Braylon keeping his head screwed on well for very long. He was never a superstar, just a good WR that had one great year bookended by many bad ones and too many changes of address over a short time. I recall some of us saying, "What the hell, it's not like they have any good WRs or anything". But I don't recall anyone saying it was great. In fact, Seattle is one of maybe 5 franchises who are so bad off at WR that this made any sense at all.

OK, I went back and don't see anybody saying that it was a great move. But plenty saying it made sense. Talk of TO earning a starting job, because the rest of the WR were so bad. And he doesn't even make the team. Reading that original thread it sounded like most backing the move were dismissing the chances that he become a headache to the team, as if there wasn't a pattern of this behavior in the past. Acting as if there was no risk involved, or at leat not any big risk. People were talking about the drama, the media attention, the fewer looks/reps the young WR would get, the young QBs having to deal with TO and his antics. All of those are risks, which just never happened to materialize. Oh well, either way I guess we're done with it for now.

You keep bringing up the notion that we were saying there was "no risk". That's not it at all. Rather, that it's not like they were in any position to worry about the sorts of risks a guy like that could cause. For two reasons. One, they didn't have anyone all that great and 2, they could cut his ass if he didn't have the goods or turned into a headache. You're confusing the concept of not agree that it's a horrible idea with thinking it's a really good one.
Ditkaless Wonders
T.O may get a look someplace if an injury occurs week one or after. At least if he comes to a roster after week one his salary will not be guaranteed. As for me I do not think he is worth it any any price, but when the injury bug starts hitting, particularly if a team looses two or moreW.R.'s and maybe a tight end, well then.... Tripleshot
I heard Carroll in an interview today talk about cutting Terrell Owens. He said thet Owens(and a few other roster cuts) were in a position to maybe help out the Seahawks down the road, being how they have already been indoctrinated in Seattle's system. Take that how you will, but I read that as "he may be back if Sydney Rice or another of our receivers get injured".
stevegrab
Drew Pearson thinks TO can still play in the NFL and that some team just needs to give him a better chance. A few games to shake off the rust and he'll be fine. http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/08/29/terrell-owens-can-still-play-in-nfl/?module=HP11_headline_stack
Easy n Dirty
I'm no fan of TO by any stretch, but I don't think his work ethic should be questioned. His sense of team and his tendency to cause trouble everywhere he went? Check, he can and should get plenty of heat on those fronts. But his work ethic was always one of his strengths - I think the notion that he came by all his talent naturally, never had to work for it, and now time is catching up with him and he doesn't have the work ethic to fight it off? Ain't buying it - he's almost 39 years old, he fought off Father Time longer than most.
