stevegrab
Sipe is the ONLY 4000 yard passer for the Browns. He is also #2 in season passing yards, Bernie Kosar and Baker Mayfield are 3/4 with 3800+ Even in the modern pass heavy era the Browns have been more of a running team. purplemonster
The Bears is interesting, but I guess they've always been more of a running team. The Jets haven't had that good of RB's so it's a bit more surprising
Bier Meister
with the 49ers generally being a run first team, i am happy with our qbs' passing yards since shanny has come to town... jimmy was at 3978 in 19. their collective efforts were fine last year (right around 4k) edit: in 21: Jimmy/lance= 4600 20 was a debacle... i have never seen so many team injuries in my lifetime of watching football since the 70s. even so, jimmy/mullens/bethard were at 4300 Edited May 10, 2023 by Bier Meister

stevegrab
Gee whoever put that group of photos together didn't try very hard to find pictures of Sipe or Moon without a helmet.
irish
Jets... 🤣 That streak ends this year. Beyond the guarantees (outside of injuries), I think the Jets (Rodgers), Browns (Watson), Panthers (Young), Steelers (Pickett), and an outside chance that the Ravens (Jackson) and Broncos (Wilson) also get 4,000 passing yards this year too. The Saints with Carr are on the guaranteed list for me. I also think Richardson is going to be huge for Fantasy teams this year.

Gopher
Anybody notice that there are only two people on the list twice? 🤨

How many on the list now will show up a second time (diff team) next year, Irish would say Watson/Rodgers. I'll agree with Rodgers, but I still have my doubts about Watson, and how much the Browns will throw.

Gopher
4K is also much more commonplace now, which makes the feats by Sipe and Namath that much more impressive, in my opinion. Those two are much more impressive/surprising to me than the Bears. If you haven't had a QB surpass "X" number of yards in the last decade or two, there's a good chance it's never happened at all. Just for some perspective, when Sipe did it in 1980 Dan Fouts led the league with 4715, then Sipe at 4132. The next 5 average just under 3600. By # 25 you're getting Craig Morton (DEN) with 2150 (there were only 28 teams then). I suspect the numbers were even lower in 67 when Namath did it. I saw Namath live for a few years. Comparatively to 2022, the QB then had no protections. None. It took near decapitation to get a roughing call. And there was no such thing as can't bump receiver around after 5 yards. DBs allowed to mug at will (comparatively to now). DPI was not a thing. Namath just loved to fling it far down the field. No fear of INTs. He had his share of them too. I can only imagine if he had the benefit of todays knee surgery improvements PLUS today's over-protection of QBs PLUS the constant modern DPIs. Good point, and back then it was also not uncommon for most QBs to miss some games, only 4 started all 14 games, and not surprisingly they have the top 4 yardage numbers, and Namath the only one over 4000 Namath 4007, Hadl(SD) 3365, Lamonica(OAK) 3228, Dawson (KC) 2651, that's about 3300 average for the top 4.
