Jackass
Just interested in peoples opinions. Will SF take Rodgers first? Alex Smith? will miami take a qb? cleveland take benson at 3 even with Green and suggs?
A Little Bit Special
I think they'd be wiser to trade down. They have a lot of holes to fill.
REZ
It's going to be hard for them to trade down and get value IMO. I don't see that demand for the #1 pick like in years past. The draft doesn't have that gotta have guy. At least not yet.
alexgaddis
I think SF will take the youngest Manning this year, Niles Manning...
KevinL
Browns take Alex Barron, OT, FSU at #3. Or else they trade down. With Savage drafting and Crenell coaching, no way they take a RB. They will stick with tradition and take a WR in the 2nd round though. 1999 - Kevin Johnson, WR, Syracuse, 2nd round #32 2000 - Dennis Northcutt, WR, Arizona, 2nd round #32 2001 - Quincy Morgan, WR, Kansas State, 2nd round #33 2002 - Andre Davis, WR, Virginia Tech, 2nd round #47 2003 - Chaun Thompson, LB, West Texas A&M, 2nd round #52 2004 - traded the 2nd round pick
forever in debt to mo lewis
heres a mock from nfldraftblitz.com(pretty good site)..the place used to be free..now they charge for some stuff..they did a 4 rounder this weekend..I saw it..I should have saved it..now it can only be viewed by paying customers *Please excuse the simplistic look to the mock draft this week. We wanted to give you guys a treat and do a 4 round mock this week, but because it's so long we didn't have the time to format it properly. We'll return to the normal look of the mock next week. Round One: 1. San Francisco 49ers- Alex Smith-QB-Utah* 2. Miami Dolphins- Cedric Benson-RB-Texas 3. Cleveland Browns- Aaron Rodgers-QB-California* 4. Chicago Bears- Braylon Edwards-WR-Michigan 5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Marcus McNeill-OT-Auburn* 6. Tennessee Titans- Alex Barron-OT-Florida State 7. Oakland Raiders- Mike Williams-WR-USC* 8. Arizona Cardinals- Derrick Johnson-LB-Texas 9. Washington Redskins- Antrel Rolle-CB-Miami(FL) 10. Detroit Lions- Heath Miller-TE-Virginia* 11. Dallas Cowboys- Adam Jones-CB-West Virginia* 12. San Diego Chargers(NYG)- Anttaj Hawthorne-DT-Wisconsin 13. Houston Texans- Marcus Spears-DE-LSU 14. Carolina Panthers- Jamaal Brown-OT-Oklahoma 15. Kansas City Chiefs- Justin Miller-CB-Clemson* 16. New Orleans Saints- Thomas Davis-S-Georgia* 17. Cincinnati Bengals- Erasmus James-DE-Wisconsin 18. Minnesota Vikings*- Travis Johnson-DT-Florida State 19. St. Louis Rams*- Alex Smith-TE-Stanford 20. Dallas Cowboys(BUF)- Shaun Cody-DL-USC 21. Jacksonville Jaguars- David Pollack-DE-Georgia 22. Baltimore Ravens- Troy Williamson-WR-South Carolina* 23. Seattle Seahawks*- Ronnie Brown-RB-Auburn 24. Green Bay Packers*- Dan Cody-DE-Oklahoma 25. Denver Broncos*- Brandon Browner-CB-Oregon State* 26. New York Jets*- Carlos Rogers-CB-Auburn 27. Atlanta Falcons*- Elton Brown-OG-Virginia 28. San Diego Chargers*- Rian Wallace-LB-Temple* 29. Indianapolis Colts*- Channing Crowder-LB-Florida* 30. Philadelphia Eagles*- Shawne Merriman-DE/OLB-Maryland* 31. New England Patriots*- Jason Allen-CB/S-Tennessee* 32. Pittsburgh Steelers*- Vernand Morency-RB-Oklahoma State* and they do usually have a nice format..and a nice writeup on every pick....one thing I found strange was that they had Cedric Benson going to Miami at 2..and then for the Seattle pick the wrote something like "Shaun Alexander has been house shopping in Miami and he has made his intentions clear"...so they have Seattle going with Ronnie Brown...but

Todd1
Wouldn't it be ironic if Miami took Sticky Icky Ricky's successor at UT, Cedric Benson, as his replacement in the pros? How did Alex Smith vault so high? If you've ever read my posts, you know I don't like taking a QB in the first round (they rarely win Super Bowls), but the WORST, WORST move to make is taking an underclassman QB in the 1st round. 4 year starters/Seniors tend to be more mature to handle the pressures of being a pro QB. I do agree with your point though. There always exceptions, but I would much rather have a 4/5 year Senior. They are usually more mature and can grasp the pro game much quicker. Fortunately for them he was more ready than anyone expected when called upon. If the 9ers take a QB he may have to start next year and will face a ton more pressure in training camp and preseason than Big Ben had to deal with. Sgt. Ryan
Top 2 players in this draft are Derrick Johnson-LB-Texas Antrel Rolle-CB-Miami(FL) And neither are worth #1 overall. Very weak draft of top end talent. No clear cut #1 QB or RB. Heck even WR, do you go with Edwards or Williams. OL doesnt have a clear cut best. DL I like both Dan and Shaun Cody. LB, D Johnson and CB A Rolle are the only clear cut at their position
forever in debt to mo lewis
this is what the same sites Big Board looks like 1 Derrick Johnson-Texas - The most complete prospect. 2 Braylon Edwards-Michigan - Uncoverable at times. 3 Cedric Benson-Texas - Tough runner with speed. 4 Aaron Rodgers-California* - Smart, sound player. 5 Mike Williams-USC* - How sharp will he look? 6 Adam Jones-West Virginia* - Has the skills team's want. 7 Antrel Rolle-Miami (FL) - Will excel in bump and run. 8 Alex Smith-Utah* - Will move up this list quickly. 9 Alex Barron-Florida State - Quiet, steady performer. 10 David Pollack-Georgia - Effort plays who gives 100% 11 Justin Miller-Clemson - Could be staying in school. 12 Heath Miller-Virginia* - In the Heap/Shockey mold. 13 Erasmus James-Wisconsin - Lives in the backfield. 14 Thomas Davis-Georgia* - Monster sized SS prospect. 15 Ronnie Brown-Auburn - Big, fast back who's fresh. 16 Jammal Brown-Oklahoma - Ideal RT for the next level 17 Anttaj Hawthorne-Wisconsin - Steady player in the middle 18 Daryl Blackstock-Virginia* - Disruptive off the edge 19 Brandon Browner-Oregon St.** - Huge (6'4") player team's covet. 20 Marion Barber III-Minnesota* - Natural runner with power/speed

Donutrun Jellies
I'm intrigued by a scenario where Heath Miller drops to 32 due to teams' needs elsewhere and Pittsburgh gets him ... Hmmmm. Can he block?
A Little Bit Special
I'm intrigued by a scenario where Heath Miller drops to 32 due to teams' needs elsewhere and Pittsburgh gets him ... Hmmmm. Can he block? 660468[/snapback] Heath Miller TE Jr 6'5" 255lbsStrengths: Has great hands...Is a major weapon in the short passing game...Has good size and knows how to use his body...Has good athletic ability...Is very smart, runs good routes and knows how to get open...Very productive...Is ready to make an impact in the pros right away. Weaknesses: Can still stand to add some weight and get stronger...Doesn't have elite speed...Is not a dominating blocker...Not very explosive or a big threat to run after the catch...Will never rank as one of the premier playmaking tight ends in the league. Notes: Not in the same elite prospect class of Kellen Winslow or Tony Gonzalez but is in the next tier...Should be the first right end drafted and is easily the top player at his position. I imagine he can learn to block though. Bubba Franks was an average blocker when he came into the league, but he's worked on it and has become pretty good at it. As this analyst says Miller has a knack for getting open. In a game vs. Va Tech in '03 he was simply unstoppable. Todd1
Roethlisberger wasn't a Jr, I thought there was talk of him coming out two years ago and sophomores weren't allowed to enter the draft in 2003???? Besides, Roethlisberger is a hand off machine who relies on his running game and defense, not a Manning chuck and duck type QB.

Barron is a good choice or they go with Miami CB to help out. I know they drafted Sean Jones last year and he sat out but it'll take him another year... We also obviously need a QB but I'm not sold on Rodgers...
