seminoles
can someone put this in perspective for me. Adrian McPhearson (spelling) did something wrong a couple years ago and since then he has been questioned about his character. To my knowledge he was a good guy before the accident and after it. And then we go to Luis Castillo. He tests positive for Andro at the combine and is labeled as "a good guy who made a mistake". I believe I'm missing something here. lkirc
I am not an expert on McPherson, but I think he was betting on his own team in college and stole checks to pay his bookie. A little more serious issue than steroids, at least to NFL people.

Seahawks21
Everything at these major football programs like FSU is blown way out of proportion. For someone to commit the crimes he did while attending that university is like college football sin, and I think the significance of a potentially premiere player getting booted out of one of these major schools definitely carries over into how he is viewed by teams, scouts, media, and the general public. And as far as steroids....come on!!! A freaking punter!!!! Everyone knows that most if not all of the players are juicin', we're just afraid to accept it because of the risk of losing our heroes and our passion for watching the games. The whole Andro thing never happened

budlitebrad
I'm from Albany and was pissed when they moved the team to Indiana. Touchdown Eddie Brown was the shucks. Edit: I think I enjoy the word shucks more than sh** so I'll just leave it. Edited April 22, 2005 by budlitebrad

Tyler Rose
McPherson admitted to the check stealing and did his time(ie:community service etc)but as for the gambling part of the charges there was never any definative proof or evidence that he had done that. I believe from the articles I've been able to find that those were just comments one of his friends(doubt they hang much now)made. Whatever team takes McPherson(please Lions!!)will be laughing for years to come as this guy steps up and becomes a very good NFL QB.
NAUgrad
You should know by now that the NFL has a double standard. Punters always get out easy. Just accept it.

lkirc
I heard the guy doing an interview yesterday and he didn't exactly strike me as a guy who seemed to have a whole lot upstairs. His success in the Arena league should help him if he goes to a team that has a quick hit passing scheme. The decision making process is not as important. I am just not sold on the guy yet. Swiss Cheezhead
As Tyler just pointed out, the gambling thing was never proven and everyone needs to remember something: people get accused of and charged with complete B.S. all the time. If a guy's not convicted, he shouldn't be faulted. At the same time, his big mistake was stealing a check. Basically, he and some friends were in the office of a car dealership (or something like that), the guy they were meeting with left his office for a minute, McPherson looked down and saw a blank check within arm's reach. He pocketed the check and later cashed it for something like $3,000. He's said recently that he still doesn't understand why he did it. SPECULATION was that he had gambling debts to pay (not necessarily bets on or against FSU). To me, it just sounds like one of those dumb, unexplainable things 19-year-olds do when they're broke. I think McPherson will go much higher than most think he will. Most teams probably think his "character concerns" are a little inflated, and will be more concerned with the adjustment he'll have to make from the AFL to the NFL. I'm guessing 3rd round. As far as what McPherson was accused of as being complete BS; when Bobby Bowden throws you off the team, you did some pretty serious shuckse. He must have forgotten to turn it over to the prosector. By the way, McPherson recently spoke with Bowden and many current Seminoles, when he visited a practice. Bowden said he was really impressed with McPherson's new attitude and wished him luck. He has only good things to say about him these days. Blitztalk
As far as what McPherson was accused of as being complete BS; when Bobby Bowden throws you off the team, you did some pretty serious shuckse.Like Moss getting high while on work release? I read in the paper yesterday there are records he was gambling and all of them involving FSU had him betting ON FSU to win. I can see a kid doing that. The prosecutor said if your in the same room with him watch your back and wallet...lol. Also said he racked up $8000 in dept gambling. Trouble is nobody has anything to make it stick enough for a jury to do anything about it. There are players in the NFL that have done worse shmit than this guy. darn, if Rae Carruth got out someone would likely sign him and send him to Europe! Look, I would think twice about him baby sitting my kids but if he would push Brooks and maybe get on the field and play up to what his potential, I would love for the Saints to use a pick on him. I watched him play for Indiana a few games and the kid was good.
