Matt Forte announces the Bears will not re-sign him

I thought Tennessee would be the perfect landing spot for him, but I doubt he'll want to be on such a bad team. The Texans make perfect sense for him. I doubt NE will pay $8M for a RB, nor will Indy since they just overpaid for Gore.

I say TN, HOU, and DAL are the front runners. I would put NYG into the mix as well.

He'd be like a fast, agile, in-shape Eddie Lacy with vision!

Yes he would, and both Starks and Kuhn are free agent as well so there is a need with only fat Eddie left. I don't think Forte would do it and I'm not sure if Packers even sign players anymore in free agency, but hard to never say never.

Per profootballtalk.com:

Forte ranks second in Bears history in yards from scrimmage (12,718), rushing yards (8,602), receptions (487), 100-yard rushing games (24) and games with 150 yards or more from scrimmage (25), trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famer Walter Payton in all five categories.

Definitely an underrated back and a class act.

He had to run behind some terrible offensive lines, which makes his stats all the more impressive.

I wish Forte all the best.

And Jeremy Langford your table is ready.

 Sad to see him go as a Bears fan and as a dynasty owner. Time for him to move on, though.

Patriots make the most sense, although they tend to not pay top dollar for aging players such as Forte. But I think at this point in his career he'd be wise to take whatever they give him and chase the ring.

Blount is an RFA and is just a banger. Dion Lewis was a nice story but will be rehabbing his torn ACL. I'd love to see Forte in New England from a fantasy standpoint. He'd be a monster.

Still kicking myself for not grabbing him off waivers this year in my keeper league. Oh well I still have Calvin Johnson  and Demaryius Thomas  and didn't keep Fitz the prior year

As a Jeremy Langford odynasty owner, I couldn't be happier.

As a Matt Forte dynasty owner, I hope he decides soon and I hope it is New England.

Rotoworld is speculating New England. Forte does make perfect sense in both personality and skill set. And he's probably willing to sign for less to be on the Patriots.

Patriots tend to go cheap at RB and have Dion Lewis coming back, not saying it wont happen though.

I get it from a schematic point of view, but from a business point of view it makes little sense for New England to bring in Forte with Dion Lewis (similar skill set as Forte) already in as a 1-2-punch with Blount. Lewis is younger, cheaper, already knows the playbook, and has chemistry with the team.

Of the teams who need a RB, where he would fit in, and can actually afford Forte without breaking the bank I think the Giants and 49ers are the best bet. Maybe the Titans too, but I think theyd draft Ezekiel Elliot at #1 before they sign Forte. Just my $0.02 though.

As a Rawls owner, I would absolutely hate for this to happen, but nobody has mentioned Seattle as a potential landing spot.

Article on NFL.com mentioned Hawks but only as a fit rather than they were actually interested. I guess at this point nobody knows so people just look at who could use him and put 2+2 together.

I have a real hard time believing Forte would go to a team that offers no shot of playoff football at this point in his career. 49ers and Titans are just crazy talk IMO.

Agreed. Think there's a lot of fit out there for him, but interest on both sides is going to be hard to guess.

I haven't seen this anywhere, but the Broncos could let Hillman walk this year. If Forte is serious about wanting a contender (without the big pay check), why wouldn't he give the Broncos a call? Solid defense and an improved running game will be needed to take a shot at it again next year.

I think we definitely let Hillman walk. We are going to be super tight on cap and I'd think that Forte will be at the higher end of the RB FA cost spectrum. If we were to sign a FA RB, my money would be on Alfred Morris.
