Ursa Majoris
Found another tonight buried deep in my old 45s. Sabre Dance by Love Sculpture. Anyone heard this? It's an amazing guitar rendition of Khachaturian's classical piece of the same name. Could be the best rock version of any classical piece. This also fits perfectly under the one-hit wonders thread and the instrumentals thread too. There's an AVI file here. Click on the download at the bottom of the screen - it's 20MB but well worth it. jetsfan
We've done a ton of music threads before so how about another one? This time the idea is to list your favorite cover versions, including the song, the covering band and the original (or the most well known version). Some covers are better known than the original, but that's fine, list 'em anyway. Best cover to date: Hurt - Johnny Cash covering NIN

westvirginia
Anyone heard the John Mayer/Fall out boys version of Beat it? Like Alien Ant Farm, kills Michael Jackson.
matt770
I always got a kick out of Phish's cover of Snoop Dogg's Gin and Juice. Richard Cheese does a bunch of hilarious covers, big-band/swing style. My favorites are Gin 'n Juice, Welcome to the Jungle, and Me So Horny. ljbrun
A real nice Hendrix tribute album is Stone Free. Good covers by The Cure, Pretenders, Buddy Guy, PM Dawn etc. Never a punk fan but I liked the Pennywise cover of California Dreaming. Michael Hedges did some nice covers of A Love Bizarre, All Along The Watchtower*, Come Together * Almost forgot - I think Dave Mason did a pretty good cover of All Along The Watchtower as well.
