Primetime9287
Anyone believe this... (KFFL) KFFL has learned Carolina Panthers RB Stephen Davis (knee), who has been working with the first-team offense during practice this week, will be the team's opening day starter for the regular season if his surgically repaired knee continues to hold up. Davis has reportedly looked sharp in contact drills, though he hasn't taken a massive hit yet.
yo mama
I noticed pretty big *if* in that statement of theirs.
major-tom
If Davis stays healthy how many carries will they give him? I bet they bring him along slow. Edited August 26, 2005 by major-tom
Donutrun Jellies
He was a stud when healthy ... and ASYS may apply in Carolina ... for what its worth, I added him to the Bavarians ...
steeler
flip! I drafted fliping D. Foster in two of my three leagues.... this news sucks donkey dicks.
Robash
does this mean drafting him in the 6th round of a 32 team league at essentially the 206th pick was "good value" on my part

steeler
OTOH, this is a KFFL report, Davis is 32 (IIRC) and coming off microfracture surgery. Until he is officially named by the starter by Fox I wont worry about it too much.

I still think having Shelton and Goings guarantees the starting RB on Carolina by week 9.
Bill Swerski
Not a bad 16th-round pick, eh?
yo mama
Not a bad 16th-round pick, eh? 948502 Considering it was a 15 round draft, not at all.

yo mama
:doah: 948519 All ribbing (for my pleasure) aside, you're "upside" RB picks in Moore and Davis look somewhat prophetic. Don't know that they'll get the job done, but their stock has risen since just Sunday. Not too shabby, Swerski.
Brentastic
If this becomes reality (I don't think it will), it makes no sense. He makes a great backup to the much younger Foster. I don't think Fox is that dumb.
Hitman
D. Foster will be the man this year......Davis might get a few token starts early on.
CaptainHook
Carolina has TWO running backs who've had microfracture surgery on their knees. Something tells me Shelton sees SOME starts this year.
gilthorp
Should be funny to see how quickly he goes in drafts that are currently taking place. William Green and Stephen Davis stocks soar on the 25th!

He is an injury waiting to happen even if he is productive when healthy I fear drafting him. However I did draft Davis in the 11th in GvE . loaf
just finished a huddle draft and took stephen in the 13th round (154) overall hoping for some good news...
Piranha
In one of my leagues (ConFusion) this is GREAT news. But I have Shelton just in case
loaf
I would be hesitant to think that Stephen could last more than 6 games.

loaf
which sucks because I drafted him late hoping he's gonna last. I'm a fool

PantherDave
I don't think so, as I've heard nothing to support this, as I see the snaps with the first team to be about getting in sync, most likely the two back attack that was run in 2003. Foster is the starter, but Davis will spell him from time to time as Foster did Davis in 2003. That's my take on it, but should I hear anything different I'll let ya know. Peace PD.
