Seriously, regardless if Portis has even a mild shoulder sprain/seperation, I'm concerned. He had a ton of carries last year and battled shoulder injuries but usually gets dinged up during the season. Remember a couple of years ago when he had that annoying chest injury? I have to bump him down a notch or two just because he seems to have tender shoulders at this point and has had some past injuries. I still expect him to get 1400 yards and 12 TD's but that's not enough for the 4th best RB. If his role in the passing game expands like advertised then he's worthy of the hype. Until then, I'm glad I don't have to pick 4th in any of my leagues. BTW- Ladell Betts is one of the better back-up RB's in the league in my opinion.

Don't everyone get pissed at me, but I think Portis has the potential, but I had him last year and I didn't have him on my draft boards this year. Yeah, 11 TDs but they came in clumps, like a 3 TD game here and there. I hope he gets the goal line carries this year, but last year I watched him and he had 3 straight times at the goal line and couldnt get in.

I don't think he will ever be a great goal line back, someone will always have to come in. He will always have to get his TDs between the 10's.

Gil we have one spot open in the wetod. $250 and your in. Care to take your chances? Clinton and I will take down mpulera and you!

Chuck, you're in that league? It must be better than I thought, and MPulera must really be the legend he says he is. I'm very sorry. :D

And to the fool who asked the dumb question who had the most carries last year and the year before, i know the answer to your silly question. But thats stupid for me to even have to respond to. I never said Portis would miss extended time with an injury, i said he limps off in the 3rd quarter fairly often. Most people are happy to live with that, im not one of them people.

MPulera,

The point on the number of carries Portis gets, is that each carry = opportunity.

Even if a back misses a quarter here or there, which almost all NFL RB's do, if that RB is getting as many touches as Portis is, it equals fantasy points and generally lots of them.

But if you don't understand that, then you don't understand it. :D

I don't post a lot so I guess you'll never know if I have a Fantasy intellect or not but, here is my analysis of this so far.

Thats why i traded him in my keeper league years ago, nothing i hate more than a Pus--sy who is always getting dinged and leaving the game early. How about we call that "Chris Brown Syndrome" seeing its his specialty!

Not the quote, I believe its the first time we see the signature.

--------------------

10 Team Keeper League (6 Keepers)

QB- Carson Palmer, Trent Green

RB- LaDainian Tomlinson, Fred Taylor, Adrian Peterson, Ricky Williams

WR-Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, Torry Holt, Plaxico Burress, Michael Clayton

TE-Antonio Gates, Alex Smith

2005 The Huddle "Newbie Tool of the Year" Runner-Up

Fred Taylor NEVER gets hurt. Rick Williams is good for at least 300+ carries right? Steve Smith and Michael Clayton haven't had injuries since they sat out a kickball game in third grade with chicken pox.

My only question about this next rant is this.

Injuries piss me off, when some guy making 5 million a year walks off the field cause he bruised his chest (Portis), that gets old fast.

Do you mean in a Michael Douglas "Falling Down" kinda way?

PS. I think in 2006, your signature will end in Sophomore Champion, not runner-up.

"Mpulera" Are we trying to set records for the longest post? You're drafting Reggie Bush or Maroney because you don't like LJ and LT. I thought you were being sarcastic but after reading most posts in this thread, I think you're serious. I hate to tell you but Bush better gain some weight really fast or he will end up in a worse predicament than Portis. The 44 yard rush against the Titans was very impressive but this ain't college and teams like Philly, Carolina, and Tampa will flatten his a$$. If you want to find a back that never gets hurt then you shouldn't be playing FF. RBs get hit more than any other position.

BTW Bellvue just called and said they need their straitjacket back. Now let's have another round as you tell me how Lendale White will outperform Barry Sanders and O.J Simpson. :D:D

Hey dumbwakawaka, enough with the name calling. I have the best team i can possibly build PRE-DRAFT. My 6 keepers are.

Palmer

Tomlinson

S Smith

Holt

Fitzgerald

Gates

I traded away a bunch of garbage (R Moss, Owens, LJ, Roy Williams, Andre Johnson, and some other bozos and aquired the Top picks in our keeper league draft. Why in the hell would i need Portis?

I dont need to start 2 RBs, and dont want to. They are all injury prone pussies. Last season i went with the same 3 WR 1 TE strategy and set 10 league records. So if you dont know candied yams about my team, my league, or my leagues scoring system, then shut your wakawakaing piehole.

I follow football closer than most of you follow how well you wiped your ass after taking a candied yams. I owned Portis for most of his Broncos career and the start of his Redskins career. He limped off the field for me EARLY no less than 6 to 8 times with ticky tacky BS, he is soft.

That being said your damn right hes a Top 2 RB. Hes never suffered a serious injury, hes young, hes talented, and he plays for a good team with an ever improving offense. I myself dont want him, i dont need him, i will be fine at RB with Tomlinson, R Bush, and Maroney and whatever other wad i draft.

Tomlinson is the next turd to get hit in the ass by the door on my keeper league team, im tired of that wimp doing the same candied yams. He gets hurt and finishes the game on the sidelines watching Burner Turner load up on stats. I have no room nor patience for overpaid pussies. Earn your millions, or retire and suck on your momma's nipples!

My plan for this year is to draft Bush and Maroney to be my 2 new RBs, until they piss me off then they can go to hell as well.

Injuries piss me off, when some guy making 5 million a year walks off the field cause he bruised his chest (Portis), that gets old fast.

The entire point of my post, is that theres NOTHING wrong with him. Id wager 10 bucks he has no injury, hes SOFT. No broken bones, no torn muscles, NO INJURY to report. He has a low tolerance for pain END OF STORY.

I rank RBs in this order

Tomlinson and Portis flip a coin on who u want. (both get dinged easily=pussies)

Alexander is 3rd (high miles- no upside left- but perhaps the safest back historically)

After those 3 i DONT WANT NONE OF THEM where they will be drafted. I guess if i had to pick 4th and was taking a RB id eye up Carnell Williams or Ronnie Brown, but my basic take on RBs has always been the same.

THEY ARE OVERRATED IN FANTASY FOOTBALL ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Every year half of them get hurt often and early, half of whats left underperforms, and in the meantime Free Agent RBs step in and become instant Top 10 RBs. So i ask you, why in the hell do i have to Keep 2 RBs if i hate them all? I dont want 2 RBs, if i didnt have to start one, i wouldnt, i would pass on every down, at least most stud WRs have been fairly reliable in their careers. I cant even name more than 10 RBs in the last 10 years who had any notable stretch of health and prosperity, Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders are about the only 2 i can think of off hand that werent always gimping off the field with ticky tac candied yams.

Read my posts, i do think Portis is #2, and i never once said he would be "injury prone" to the extent that hes junk. All i said is I DONT WANT HIM, he let me down too many times on a "weekly" basis. For the length of the season, he has been and always will be a Top flight elite RB. He makes plays, he scores TDs, he can even throw a TD pass, but i dont need him, and i dont want him.

So how about all of you shut your pie holes, if you dont like what i have to say dont read it. At least i speak with a passion for the game and a FULL UNDERSTANDING of all aspects of a player, not just what you see when you flip open your fantasy magazine because you have no brains and dont know a thing about football. If anyone in here actually owned Portis as much as i have, then im sure he would back me 110% that he has a history of missing game time for no apparent reason. I would feel better about him if he actually was seriously injured, but he never is, which means hes leaving games early with watussie injuries

HE ISNT HURT< HES FINE< So all you Redskin and Portis fans can breathe, take it from a true fantasy expert, because im the only expert here whos advice is worth listening too!

Before I start, I still want to know who gave you such an inferiority complex, now Jr., Listen/read closely-the WR position is by far the most incosistent position in all of FF, most teams do not pass on every play, and when they do..well there is usually two WR or more out for the pass. Now, most teams start one RB primarily and he get's all the totes etc. The RB is the most valued position in FF with the QB being next, so, I've run my local for 17 years now, and I will join any league of your choice and I will heighten your inferiority complex even more. You are by far the biggest tool on this MB, so put your money where your mouth is and join a league with some of us Huddlers. Any Time-Any Place A-Hole.

I have no respect for anyone that calls somebody else, especially an injured NFL player a pusslie. I won't even argue the why of it... it should be obvious.

I also despise the term "Choker"

I agree, I mean I don't think any of us could take hits like they do week in week out on a consistant basis like they do. It's just kind of like I don't like people saying, "bla QB, or bla, RB sucks" because they must be good enough to be in the NFL. If they weren't that good they would be in Europe, practice squad, or even worse Canada.

If a guy gets hurt, It's not his fault, he conditioned to the best he could for the season and just got hit bad, or landed awkward. You CAN'T prepare for everything.

I wouldn't rag on Portis, he was a man last year and battled and played all last year with injuries, likewise with Champ Bailey; played with a sling on his seperated shoulder!

wakawaka you ***, you got some pretty big balls to rip on 10 guys you dont even know. Why dont you come to our draft, im sure we would enjoy taking turns kicking your ass around the draft room. The truth is, most of you retards couldnt compete in our league, Why? Because your too wakawakaing stupid thats why. I read all your posts, and 85% of them come straight from your fantasy magazines or some crap you read on Fanball, why dont you actually invest some time and do some research then tell us how you feel. When the best you can do is rip on someone and their league, it just proves your a wakawakaing clueless sack of imbred candied yams.

Your a *** who loves ***s, go make love to your gay cellmate you dumbwakawaka!

When you wake up tomorrow, hopefully with a hangover for an excuse, you might even regret this post... but I'm actually thinking you won't.... which would be much, much worse. :D

CINCINNATI -- Running back Clinton Portis partially dislocated his left shoulder during the Washington Redskins' opening series of the preseason Sunday night, a significant setback for the Redskins' revamped offense.

Portis

An MRI test detected the injury, which involves the bone popping out of place temporarily in the shoulder socket. Standard treatment involves rest and strengthening exercises.

There was no immediate indication how long he will be sidelined.

I consider myself serious and good at fantasy football; I only go with what I know. Whenever my friends and I do my league they have those magazines and I tab through them and laugh at the picks they have for best at every position; it never turns out that way.

Bleh, but back to the point, when people start getting up to 300-350 dollars for a league I think I couldn't even enjoy the actual football anymore! I'd be too wound up it and getting pissed over something.

I like my league right now, a bunch of people I went to high school with started it when we were Freshmen in high school and still continue it each year. No money, just bragging rights. I still get too strung up in it and constantly to try to work to what I think is the perfect team, but if I did that much money I don't think I could sleep. I KNOW I couldn't enjoy watching football then.

Look peoples.

First off half you made me laugh hard, Thank you for that.

2nd Off. If you go by "last years" big thing your often going to be disappointed. The key to fantasy football is being able to dicipher which players will give you 16 weeks of quality play this coming season not last season or the 5 years before that.

With that being said, the life span of a RB is shorter than my weeener on Viagra, which for those of you i havent corn holed, its not that long. Why would i want to invest anything in a guy that im personally disappointed in. In the case of Larry Johnson, i think his team took several huge blows this off season. I dont like the age of the team or the depth they have on offense. I DONT WANT LJ. My research tells me theres too many question marks surrounding him, hes garbage to me.

Portis, i love the guy. Hes funny, fast, and hes yet to suffer any serious injuries, thats all good. But he has cost me fantasy games in the past with his constant dings. In my league we get points for reaching plateaus like 100 yards. So 99 yards isnt worth candied yams, so when he walks off in the 3rd quarter sitting on 97 yards because his chest is sore, that pisses me off. Hence i grew tired of it, hence hes gone.

Fantasy Football is nothing more than a game of hot potato. The key to winning is to buy low and sell high, while getting the players who are hot to carry you to victory. Sometimes you time it just right and you win (like when i traded Carnell Williams for LJ mid season last year), but its a new season, i think Larry peaked, i think his future is average to poor at best with that team. I do not like him.

Shaun Alexander amazes me, i see a guy whos taller than ideal, and he seems to be a bit bulky in his upper torso, guys like that seem to smell of injury to me. Yet he never gets hurt, he continues to shine year in and year out, yet i dont want him. I know the day i trade for him is the first day in the end of a brilliant career, i want no part of that.

Steven Jackson, hes an injury looking for a place to get hurt at. At 6'2 230 pounds im affraid his little knee joints cant handle the punishment they will recieve. He may play the next 12 years injury free and shatter every RB record, good, he can do that on someone elses team. I know the day i trade for him, is the day i see his left foot spun around pointing backwards because he tore his knee. I want no part of him.

Do yourselves a favor, go look at your favorite fantasy magazine for the last few seasons. I want you to look at the Top 30 RBs each season, then tell yourself where they finished in your leagues scoring. You will find that the majority were busts. I know you cant predict who will bust and who wont, but you can just avoid the situation altogether and load up at "safer" positions. Every year a plethura of RBs can be aquired late or in FA that will get you 100 yards and or a TD on a regular basis once the guy in front of him blows out a knee or whatever. RBs are easy to find, to me they are the EASIEST position to fill "post draft".

The bottom line is this, if i have a draft choice and theres 2 players i feel equally about and 1 is a RB and 1 is not. I will take the RB, as someone said theres only so many starting RBs, and i agree. But when im left to make a choice between a RB that scares me, or anyone else of equal value to me at another position, screw the RB.

Ask the Deuce McAllister and Priest Holmes owners of last season how they worked out for them. I bet they are PISSED. Of course Owens and Moss were disappointments as well, i know,i owned them. However i traded Owens away for a bunch of good stuff before his meltdown, and Randy became a reserve when i traded for Larry Fitzgerald (gave someone Tiki abd picks for him). I won my league by moving players in and out all season, riding who was healthy and hot and moving who i saw as a putz.

Am i always right? wakawaka NO, but my theories have done me rather well in my 9 years in fantasy football. I want the "safest" studs i can find, and if there are no RBs i feel safe about, then to hell with them, ill deal with my RBs as the season progresses.

What sets me off the deep end here on the Huddle? People who instead of disagreeing, they start in with their oh so colorfull "your an idiot" posts. Then everyone else who has no clue nor concept follow suit with their queer little "+1". If you dont think Portis is soft, then prove to me why im wrong, dont start calling my league a bunch of retards. Thats the other thing that sets me off. Leave my league out of it. The guys in my league are very active and they shell out around $350 a year to play, so it must be a good league.

Due to an untimely death of an owner in our league, WE HAVE 1 OPENING.

I would LOVE for any one of you diehard football guys to take over that team. If you have the money and the time, and want to play with some of the most active owners you will ever find, then join up. I will happily trade LT to you the next time that kitty cat walks off holding his chest. Ive grown tired of his late season slides and having to watch Burner Turner rip off 80 yard TDs in his place. LT is the next one to take a crap.

Bottom Line, i hate all RBs, but they are a required spot, so i do what i can, but that dont mean i have to like it or pat these guys on the back.

If i can drag brush uphill in 3 feet of wakawakaing snow for Complete tree Service for 12 hours a day on bad knees, then these overpaid pussies can start sacking up and playing some football ! ! ! ! !

PLEASE JOIN OUR LEAGUE< I NEEED SOMEONE IN IT WHO PISSES ME OFF SO WE CAN FIGHT ONA DAILY BASIS. SACK UP AND GET YOUR MONEY OUT!!!!!!!

LOL. How many people do you think will read that lenthy diatribe? :D

The Money makes it more exciting, its also good for your cardio vascular system to have so much riding on these crackhead NFL players!

Lol, I guess that's true, but I'd rather be in control of my money than letting those people in the NFL control my fate.

PS. on an Edit

I know the money would get me, we did it one year and i worked hard figuring out the people and routed the league and only lost 1 game. Next year though I was going for back to back championships, I lost by less than ONE point, and what makes it worse is Marc Bulger got hurt in the first minute of the game. I was pissed off for a whole year over that. If there had been money involved that year I would have gone crazy.
