Police believe 2,000 to 3,000 people were in the area for a Juneteenth celebration when the attack occurred Tuesday night. The man who was killed had been trying to stop the group from attacking the vehicle's driver when the crowd turned on him, authorities said.

Milwaukee Police say a 33-year-old man has a broken tooth and cuts all over his face after a group of teenagers pulled him from his car and beat him following Milwaukee's Juneteenth celebration.

It doesnt mention why they attacked the dude in the car...

Just read the article, and they were beating him because he had hit a 3 or 4 year old girl. The driver got out of the car to check on her (she had minor injuries, nothing life threatening), when the crowd started beating him, THat;s when the passenger got our to help him, and the crows turned on him. Driver escaped somehow, passenger not so lucky.

Moral of the story: Don't do the right thing, floor it and take the hit and run penalty, it is less severe.

Juneteenth marks the day Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston in 1865 to share news of the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed slaves two years earlier on Jan. 1, 1863.

You would at least think they could celebrate the correct date. Jan 1.

Jan 1 didn't mean anything to them until June 19th over 2 years later. Kinda like a first date anniversary compared to a wedding anniversary - which one truly holds more meaning?
