DMD
Is this week in Minnesota the first time ever that both starting RBs have the same name? Benson was the starter in the first meeting, but now it is Adrian vs. Adrian. Has there ever been a time when the same named player in the same position has ever faced each other? May the best Adrian win, and not the one that had a better week 14.
Randall
Interesting. A football question at an NFL board.
Menudo
I thought I remembered, not too long a ago, that there were two Tshimanga Biakabatuka's playing against each other .... If not him, then I'm sure it happened with a common name like his.

budlitebrad
Giants vs Panthers in 2009. Steve Smith vs Steve Smith EDIT: Roy Williams covered Roy Williams last season when the Lions beat the Cowboys. CaP'N GRuNGe
My bigger question: do you start both Peterson (MN) and Chester this week? Or do you bench one for MBIII?
CaP'N GRuNGe
I'm sure their have been WR/CB matchups with the same name and probably D-Line / O-Line matchups as well.

PaulOttCarruth
Ricky Williams (MIA) faced Ricky Williams (IND) in 2002 and 2003 . . . although the Indy version didn't see any action.

MikesVikes
I'm pretty sure that Gene Washington played against Gene Washington at the receiver position. The 49'er played from 69-79. The Viking played from 67-73. Edited December 11, 2007 by MikesVikes
MikesVikes
There's two James Jones that played during the same time.
Whiskey Pimp
What about the good Rex Grossman playing FOR the Bears vs the bad Rex Grossman playing AGAINST the Bears? That must've happened in the same game at least once.
Savage Beatings
Imagine if there were two Brett Favres playing against each other... the man-love spewing from Madden would be so thick that you would have to wipe the ooze from your tv screen in order to see the game. Vicster
I'm waiting for the matchup of CB Randall Gay covering De'Cody Fagg in the NFL. Just the thought of Michaels saying, "Gay was all over Fagg on that one, eh John?" Or "Fagg blew by Gay on his way to paydirt!" or... oh nevermind... you get the picture. MTSuper7
Back in the late 80s the 49ers had a kicker named Mike Cofer and the Lions had a LB named Mike Cofer. Not too common a last name. I can't even think of any other Cofers in the league other than those two. As for starting RBs specifically, can't think of any besides the two APs. Ursa Majoris
May the best Adrian win, and not the one that had a better week 14. In all this name foolishness, this piece of anti-Bears bias leaps out at us poor downtrodden Bears fans.
