well it stinks getting older ...tore / ruptured my achille's heel playing pick up football game on Super Bowl sunday afternoon

went to push off and then bang went down like a ton of bricks ...tremendous pain

my friends wife is a nurse and she was at the party at my house ..right away she said to me that it did not look good since she could not feel my achille's tendon ...basically disappeared after it tore

Still watched the game with a wrap and hopped up and down at each Giants great play ...went nuts when they won

so now there will besurgery thursday AM for me and then a hard cast for a month with lots of rehab afterwards

but its ok , especially when i consider how many more people are dealing with alot more serious hardship than this

It will be the most memorable super bowl in history for me both for giants amazing win and for fact of the injury

amazingly i am still as good looking as ever :D

hope all goes well and that i can recover 100 % ...i am keeping the faith

Elton Brand of the Clippers suffered a ruptured Achilles before the season started and he's already dunking in practice. It's amazing the work they can do on such injuries. You'll be back on the field by training camp for sure!! Best of luck!

Ooofa! Good luck with that. I feel for you. During a football game early in the season, a buddy of mine tore his ACL and did nerve damage to his foot. All he did was jump for a ball that was a bit to high and came down the wrong way. It didn't even look all that bad when it happened, maybe a little odd but not bad. I thought he might've twisted an ankle. After it happened his brother was actually telling him to stop being a wuss about it and just walk it off. Turns out, after going to see 4 or 5 specialists, that he has zero activity in the nerve and the doctors aren't sure of what course of action to take. He walks with a brace and has a pretty bad limp. He limps because he can't even lift is foot. It just dangles when he lifts his leg. The guy can't even walk normally, let alone run, roller blade, or play almost any aport for that matter now. The saddest part is he was an unbelieveable track star, breaking all kinds of records throughout HS. Running was his life and the thing he always felt confident about and it's over.

So, as you said, even though what happened to you was painful and certainly the surgery and long rehab afterward won't be any fun, you should be fine or at least close to it when all is said and done. Hope sharing my story helps raise your spirits a bit.
