TheShiznit
But a strong dollar is antithetical to exports, surely, thus the trade deficit would increase. How can we pay down the national debt without turning the trade deficit into a surplus? A strong dollar CAN be antithetical....we can make up for the divide in many ways. However, I am not talking about an absolute strong dollar policy....I would like a dollar as strong as it was in 1999 through 2000.
I Like Soup
I don't bother checking anymore. I'm going to have to pay it regardless. No use getting worked up over it because whatever the price, its still cheaper than it is in Europe. Then you should really be pissed off since it is .14cents/gallon in Venezuela. Gas is in the $1.40's for the Chinese...where is the outrage that they are paying less? Why make Europe your benchmark?...it is ok for us to pay less since the Europeans pay more?...screw that. A girl gets raped here, but since it happens much more frequently in Africa, not to mention the disfigurement of their genitalia, our rape victims need to just simmer down now because it is worse in other countries? Oh...I paid $3.36/gallon for super last week.
jaxfactor
Filled up at one of the cheapest places in Jax yesterday at $3.29for regular. Went up 6 cents since my last fill up. At this rate, it may very well be $5.00 a gallon by summer and prime vacation time.

Oh...I paid $3.36/gallon for super last week. Simple supply and demand - what the market will bear. $3.40 would ruin the Chinese economy so the price is set to the highest possible without destroying the purchaser. As for Venezuela, not only do they produce it but their maniac leader is ensuring his population keep him in power by effectively giving them free stuff. Europe gas costs aren't really higher than ours, they just tax the bejesus out of it to produce the final price.
rocknrobn26
$3.49 avg in Chi town/Metro area. BTW....I read in the Chi Trib a week ago (no link) that aviation fuel is $3.17/ gal!!!! How can that be? It's more refined than #2 diesel!

SheikYerbuti
We're at $2.97 as of today. . .only sub $3 post yet this thread. God Bless America's Armpit: New Jersey!! Never mind. . . $3.01 today.
darin3
Never mind. . . $3.01 today. Strange, I always heard that gas prices were highest on Thursday-Friday. Get-away days. But perhaps Sunday would be a "get back home" day. Lots of people on the road on Sundays I imagine. I always try filling up mid-week. Or when I need gas. Savage Beatings
$3.15 at a Holiday station near my neighborhood... the nice thing at this station is that for the last month or so they have been selling their Silver octane blend for the same amount as their Regular blend. So, I'm still paying out the ass, but I'm getting slightly better fuel than at other stations.

rocknrobn26
It is? I thought jet fuel was about the dirtiest it got... I don't think so. An ex-student of my had dual tanks on his 4/wheel picker-up. During the winter he'd fill one tank w/ aviation fuel (he had a connection at the local airport) to get an easier start on cold winter mornings. Then after a few miles he's switch over to #2. darin3
I think it all comes out of the same underground tank anyway. I think you're probably just being facetious but there are actually only two types of tanks underneath a gas facility: one for the low-grade and one for the high-grade. "Mid-grade" is simply a mix of the two. That's why you see the gas trailers with two tanks. And two different "holes" in the ground at stations. wiegie
I want to invade Germany so bad...you have no idea. I think they want you to come... at the little kiosk near the train station in Konstanz they sell flags from countries and places all around the world. One of the flags that they sell is the Confederate flag. (I'm not kidding.) If that's not an invitation for you to come over, I don't know what is. Um, because Hugo Chavez is a militant socialist, and China is communist, so they (unlike the USA and Europe) can keep the prices artificially low? I Like Soup
Um, because Hugo Chavez is a militant socialist, and China is communist, so they (unlike the USA and Europe) can keep the prices artificially low?
