I've owned Toyotas for the past ten years, and just bought a new Highlander last year. Never had a problem with any of them, and despite their recent struggles with manufacturing recalls and such, I am 100% loyal to the Toyota brand.

If you're looking at the 4Runner, I would suggest checking out the Highlander as well. I've driven both, and the Highlander not only has just as much space as the 4Runner (I'm 6'6" and actually find the Highlander to be much more spacious/comfortable than the 4Runner, in terms of head and leg room), but it's also got more of a "car chassis," whereas the 4Runner is a "truck chassis." Bottom line is that the Highlander is a much smoother, and more comfortable, ride. The 4Runner is probably better for rugged terrain, towing capabilities, etc., but if you're looking for more of a "family oriented" SUV, the Highlander is the better choice, IMO.

In the Ryukyu Islands... On Okinawa, the US 6th Marine Division assaults Yae Hill but is driven back by the Japanese defense.

I am looking for "more truckie". Considering stepping down from a Tundra. Tough to think about giving up the truck bed, but I am thinking on it.

Things may have changed, but when I looked at Toyota trucks (and 4-Runners) when I was in the market back in 2000-2001ish, I found them to be very "standard"... that is, the seats were like cardboard and the dash was extremely basic. Maybe I was looking at the bottom-of-the-barrel in terms of options, but the comparable models of other makes were much plusher. If you're going to have the budget to pump it up a bit, I'm sure it's a solid choice... Toyota does make a good product.

Yeah, I'm thinking things may have changed a bit in 10 years.

mite want to delete this.....

Well since you quoted it I can no longer delete it...it's in sorta 'Huddle Stone' now.

Besides, no one saw me hit the 4Runner...I mean it was dark, and snow was everywhere, and I was drunk, searching for a CD in the rear compartment, making myself a sandwich...

Won't help Nick...our 4Runner is 12 years old...runs so good, I'm hoping to get 200K at a minimum out of it. :knockonwood:

I drive a 2001 with 140k on it. Just drove Cleveland <-> East PA. 21 mpg. I got it in 2004 and it had 60k miles on it. I have never had a problem. Comfortable seats (had leather kit installed in 2004).

It does start to float a bit above 90mph. It's a 3.4L V6 and literally unstoppable in the snow and offroad.

My BIL bought his wife a 2010 highlander 2 months ago, she loves it. She had driven a new leased Trailblazer every 2-3 years for the past decade or more. The highlander is more for getting groceries, though.

Get the V8 4Runner.

I am asking about the 2010 because it is a significant redesign. It's also not available in a v8.

EDIT: I think I am going to look at one tomorrow. There's only one dealer that I can find that has the model I want with the option I want....and of course it has other options I don't want.

But seriously, a co-worker just bought a new one to replace his used one that he gave to his kid to go off to college with. He stands by them.

Then he opens the door and crawls inside and starts it right up.

And yeah, always get the V8. It's worth the little extra money.
