Does anyone really buy the theory that it was an optical illusion of a contrail from a plane? Missles travel MUCH faster than aircraft, and the trail does not disperse as fast what these pics indicate. Contrails approaching from the horizon can appear to be going straight up. This same optical illusion may have been what spawned the "Navy missle theory" in the TWA FLT800 explosion. I spent 4 years in ground support of USAF warplanes, tankers and cargo aircraft. I've seen plenty of missles get launched, including some as a civilain. Twice I witnessed missle launches in Florida from a window seat on a commercial airliner. I saw that video and replayed it several times. Jet aircraft. See how slowly the trail develops? That is because it isn't a missle, and it isn't going straight up. It's an aircraft approaching from the horizon. Seen it a thousand times. I did enjoy those conspiracy links though. People have incredible imaginations. Oh, and unless the CIA has submarines, it is IMPOSSIBLE, I said IMPOSSIBLE for ANY accidental missle launch to ever occur, by any country with the capability to do so.
