Puddy
I think they're saying that Al Davis has died.
lawofmurphy
Say what you want about Davis and how the Raider franchise was run the last decade or so, but Davis was a towering NFL figure. He had such a huge impact on the league and for those of us that love what the NFL is today, we owe Davis a debt of gratitude. The league lost a true football guy today... kpholmes
Despite the immense frustration I've experienced in the past ten years as a Raider fan - the man was a titan in the world of football and made the game what it is today. I will always be immensely grateful for his contributions to the sport. RIP.

Agreed, even Gruden was amazed by his football knowledge. Rest in peace Al.
Ursa Majoris
After so many years of futility bordering on pathetic, it's a shame he's died just as his beloved team is showing signs of being good.
satelliteoflovegm
That's sad. Second visionary to leave us this week. CBS used a terrible photo of him. He looks awful. Regardless of his condition, couldn't they use a nicer picture now that he's passed? Edited October 8, 2011 by satelliteoflovegm
boltnlava
That's sad. Second visionary to leave us this week. CBS used a terrible photo of him. He looks awful regardless of his any condition. Couldn't they use a nicer picture now that he's passed? Wow, that is bad. An '80's Raider sideline photo would have been appropriate. Davis' contributions to the NFL far outweigh the loss of sesnsibilities in managing the Raiders over the last 5 yeaars or so. RIP.
