Bronco Billy
I don't see how Goodell doesn't suspend him if true. But it's nice to see this starting to come to a head. Way, way overdue.
stevegrab
He can afford the fine, if there is one. Was it Goodell's cell phone? Is it really a private number or one that thousands already have? If it is public information hard to punish him for it.
peepinmofo
What would the crime be if suspended? Giving out a phone number? Is there a rule that he violated? While it might be a doooshy thing to do, Im not sure it warrants a suspension or fine.
awahl63
Good. This is situation is straight up ridiculous. and so is my grammar Edited September 25, 2012 by awahl63
Chief Dick
I heard Goodell is going to make him cut his hair. If so, a travesty of epic proportions.

Bronco Billy
+1 ... also, I don't see how the NFL can fine a player or coach for criticizing the refs, either. You mean like the $35K for Fox and $25K for Del Rio when the DEN coaches criticized the refs in the week 2 ATL game? The NFL isn't a Republic, it's a private enterprise. Conduct detrimental to the league - which can encapsulate a whole lot of malfeasances - among other specified actionable items, can result in fines and suspensions for players and coaches. Scooby's Hubby
Lebowski - "that's like your opinion, man" So, can they fine the media, too? Edited September 25, 2012 by Scooby's Hubby
bushwacked
So, can they fine the media, too? In most cases the media isn't employed by the NFL and it's not a good comparison anyway...if the number was private...he deserves punishment...in almost any other profession, mass sharing of private contact data of a high profile 'boss' would likely result in a firing. Bronco Billy
Lebowski - "that's like your opinion, man" So, can they fine the media, too? Don't think they can fine the media, since the media doesn't work either directly or indirectly for the NFL. They can ban media members from NFL related events like games, press conferences, etc.

I'd say the biggest "conduct detrimental to the league" is the owners running these unqualified refs out there.
