Bobby Brown Posted June 22, 2023 Share Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) The Mariners finally ended a 20 plus year playoff drought last year. Powered by a somewhat unpredicted summer winning streak. Feelings and predictions from eggspurts were high for 2023. This year has been more of the same old same old, but with more talent underperforming. And now an impressive run or two seems necessary for 2023 playoff hopes. Baseball success isn't linear....and the core of the team seems legit...But hopes from fans are emotional and not necessarily logical. As someone who watched Ken Griffey Jr play every day and still fall short of a WS appearance, this is mandated torture that I simply exposed my grown son to; without experiencing the GOAT. The mediocre Guardians are hot on their heels, thanks to some wins against the hapless As. (The west coast trip was not good.) Not sure what expectations are here in the CLE, the team has some talent, but even if they get to the playoffs seem destined to lose to the power teams.
