Puddy
Officials Prepare For 'Worst' At FLDS Camp200 Women, Children Removed From Polygamist Compound POSTED: 6:24 pm EDT April 5, 2008 UPDATED: 9:03 pm EDT April 5, 2008 ELDORADO, Texas -- Ambulances are being sent to a polygamist compound in West Texas as authorities prepare "for the worst" in a conflict with members of the compound. Prosecutor Allison Palmer said sect leaders Saturday refused to let authorities search a temple for a 16-year-old member who reported being physically abused. Palmer told the San Angelo Standard-Times that medical workers are being sent "in case this were to a go in a way that no one wants." She said that law enforcers are "preparing for the worst." A search warrant authorized troopers to enter the retreat run by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They are looking for evidence of a marriage between the girl and a 50-year-old man. A search warrant said the girl had a baby when she was 15. Earlier Saturday, child welfare officials said they had removed nearly 200 women and children from the retreat, built by polygamist leader Warren Jeffs. Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner said 137 children and 46 women are being housed Saturday and interviewed. That's including the 52 girls removed the day before. gbpfan1231
What would you rather do - Join a freaky religious group or be a Cowboys fan? I think the answer is obvious and hence the answer to your question. "You stole my Jesus fish didn't you!"

TimC
Ever notice if it's a crazy guy in Texas, the police burn down the compound and kill everyone...but if it's a few dozen Catholic Priests, they simply re-assign them to another church in another state? Coffeeman
Good question, seriously. Is it strictly the law or is there some sort of underground support system in place in those states (MT, TX) that doesn't exist elsewhere? By that I mean suppliers of food, gas, banking and other things, businesses that maybe deliver to anywhere and/or never ask questions, vs. those in other states? wirehairman
Wide open areas miles from civilization, out of sight, out of mind... Exactly. The Freemen were located in an area that has a population densisty of roughly 1 person per every 4 square miles. Ole Ted was likewise holed up in a very difficult to access and remote mountainous area. Besides, we tend to stay out of our neighbors business up here.
