They said it was in their words "A horrible injury" and the orthepedic surgeon said he had an angel over his shoulder because this fall could have left him paralyzed. He has a long road ahead of him. They have to see if the bones fuse. The break left a cavity that they had to actuaklly fill with bone matter. It took over an hour just to clean out the parts from the break. we were very pleased with the reports from both Doctors. Thanks again to all of you . whomper Posted June 21, 2009 Author Share Posted June 21, 2009 They fit him for a custom brace on Friday and it arrived yesterday. This is supposed to help a great deal by taking a lot of pressure off of the spine. Once this showed up the put it on and sat him up. He walked from his bed to the bathroom with the brace using a walker which was a great sign. He had a set back on Friday. His Doctor ordered a scan for clots since my Dad has been immobile for so many days and they found one in his leg. Thank God the doc is very thorough. They couldnt put him on blood thinners since he had back surgery so they had to do a procedure where they put this instrument around the clot so it doesnt travel. All in all things are moving along.
