Drugging and Attempted Murder

Timeline - last Friday night. My brother in law lives in Nashville. On Friday, hwe went with a couple friends to Indiana to visit the riverboat casinos for some fun, a couple drinks, etc.

Saturday - 3:00 AM PST - My mother in law, in Southern California, gets a phone call from the Indiana State Police that her son is in the hospital. Large gash in the back of the head that required stitches and staples. She was the only number they could reach. She gets ahold of her daughter in law to start putting the story together.

So, what have the police been able to piece together based on video evidence and what my BIL has been able to recall.

At some point Friday night, my bro-in-law separated from his friends so he could go turn in for the night. He was at a different hotel from them as he had joined the trip last minute. They left him at a sports bar where he decided to have a last drink. From all accounts, he had only had 2-3 drinks over the night, so he was far from drunk. He has his drink and gets a cab to his hotel. All of this is captured on casino surveillance cameras.

He arrives at his hotel and is seen paying the cabby. Apaprently appears to be fairly intoxicated here. Reports (I am not sure) say he actually got ill in the cab. He makes it to an elevator. All seen on camera. He is off camera for 8 minutes. Hotel has no cameras in the elevators or hallways. He is then seen getting off of the elevator, appearing very dazed and bleeding profusely from the back of the head. Police are currently investigating. His wallet was stolen (with about a whopping 10 bucks in it) as well as his wedding ring. There are puddles of blood and spray in his hotel room and the hallway outside. At the hospital, his BAC was twice the legal limit. He has injuries to his hand (pinky and thumb, appears to have been slammed in a door or something similar) and shoulder. Apparently he fought back a bit, suffered blunt force trauma (believed to be from a bat or something such as that) and was drugged earlier in the night, possibly at the sports bar.

Fortunately, he is doing okay now. Sore, but alive.

And how was your weekend?

we went to Murphy's Landing to see how life was lived 150 years ago in Minnesota. It was painful... kind of like surviving an attempted murder.

Prayers sent Savage

That's nice of you but BC started the thread.

I hope the hospital did a full tox screen on him. From what I understand GBH or whatever that date rape drug is can cause even a little alcohol to hit you pretty hard.

.16 while way to drunk to be driving is no where near enough to F yourself up that bad. I am 6 ft and 165 and .16 is not that hard for me to get to. That said I lived a good part of the last 20 years at .16 or better and had no issues. Now that I am sober I keep falling down. LOL
