Jackass
I've heard the songs b/f but never knew who it was. Just caught a Pete Yorn special on a music channel and pretty into it.

Started buying everything of theirs after that.

Savage Beatings
Not a band, but I've recently discovered that I love the moody compositions of Erik Satie. So I guess it's been out there for a good 100 years or so.
Azazello1313
that's pretty much ALL of my musical "discoveries". but the one that sticks with me the most was about 10 years ago when I first listened to what is now probably my favorite rock band ever, the german krautrock band Can. it blew my mind, here was music that was unbelievably fresh and cutting edge, and it was recorded in like 1970. it was like I heard everything that was new and interesting about "post-punk", "alternative" rock in music that was put down 10 to 25 years before I thought it became new and interesting. I couldn't fathom how before that I had only heard about this group in passing mentions here and there.

Ursa Majoris
Going to see them again in a couple weeks. And they were great. Extremely enthusiastic packed house of old codgers had a whale of a time.
BeeR
Dixie Dregs/The Dregs (Steve Morse) Beat me to it. Also Pat Metheny, Jeff Lorber and Spyrogyra (all many years ago), tho I cooled on the last 2 as they generally digressed.
