stevegrab
I'll say this. I was more surprised that Det didn't go for it on 4th and 1 than I was any call or no call by the refs. Dallas d wasn't exactly the Steel Curtain of the 70s yesterday. Gutless call to punt the ball there Do you realize that the Lions offense was already planning for 1st & 10 when the refs pulled the rug out and told them it was now 4th & 1? You think maybe that played a part in what they did next? GB should be torn down.........No game should be played in whether like that. NO GAME. Well maybe Hockey. I'd rather every NFL game be played outdoors in -10 degrees than inside some sterile climate controlled environment. Even old Texas stadium was better than Jerry's monstrosity. I think that is just inane and more of an indication of your hatred for America's Team. I don't think the refs are infallible, they are human after all, but I don't think they are dishonest either. I think it is absolutely horrid that people are so blinded by their hate for the Cowboys that they immediately impugn the integrity and character of the referees. It is ludicrous to think there is or was a conspiracy in place to impact any part of the game. Hell, if Jerry could buy his way to the SB don't you think he would have done it long before now? Who is this America's team you speak of, I cannot find them on the list of NFL teams? Some of what I said was blowing off steam and being a little sarcastic. I was actually ok with the Cowboys doing well this year, I don't hate them like I do PIT, BAL, NE. But this nonsense yesterday, and the fans who are trying to say that wasn't PI or it didn't matter have pushed me to hate the Cowboys. (Was never a fan, cannot stand the whole BS America's team and pompous fans.) I don't think refs are infallible either, I just think they totally blew that call. Don't make the announcement first, then discuss and pick up flag. Call offsetting, call the penalty on Dez for being on the field. Any one of those could have had a major impact (just knowing it was 4th & 1 instead of 1st down could have mattered).
Finn5033
Not a fan of either team but if I were a Detroit fan, or a Cowboy hater, I think the no call on Dez running on the field is worse than picking up the flag on the PI call. I mean if they had any doubts Dez gifted them the opportunity to make the PI play meaningless by calling an obvious unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. bud29
so you refuse to respond to the truth Keg retweeted this last night, thought it would be fitting to post here: Who is this America's team you speak of, I cannot find them on the list of NFL teams? Grits and Shins
I don't agree with stevegrab at all, but there are two huge factors that drive this line of thinking: 1. The NFL, from a revenue & exposure standpoint, stand to benefit hugely from a Dallas Superbowl win. Likely much moreso than any other team, so they do have a great interest in getting them there. 2. Jerry does himself no favors by partying it up with the head of officiating. Despite how much the NFL may or may not stand to benefit from a Dallas Superbowl win I think you are forgetting that the NFL is comprised of 32 teams with 32 owners. You honestly belief those other 31 owners would sign off on a process to push the Cowboys to the Superbowl OVER THEIR OWN TEAMS? This is what I am supposed to believe? I don't care what the financial benefit may or may not be ... the egos of the individual owners would not allow them to put their team BEHIND the Cowboys. No disagreement on the inappropriateness of the head of officiating partying with the representatives of any team.

This is not what you said ... you said because the "League office told them too, wanted to keep the game exciting and make sure Dallas had a "fair" chance to win. Sounds as reasonable as any other explanation (and I haven't heard one from the lame NFL or the refs)." Not the same thing. In one statement you impugn the integrity and honest of the referees and imply there was a conspiracy. In the other statement you say they simply blew the call. Which statement of yours do you believe?

No I do not think the there was a conspiracy, that was sarcasm. I'd like to think the NFL refs didn't cheat, but I used to think that applied to all officials and the NBA officials scandal shed some light on that. I do feel that in general home teams, popular teams and marquee players get preferrential treatment (in all sports). The refs made mutliple mistakes - announcing the penalty before huddling to discuss it - overturning the def PI (it was and is called almost every time) - missing the off PI (it would have resulted in off setting penalties, unless they call it and still toss out def PI) - missing the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Dez for coming onto the field (that would have been huge either way) - many other that were less signficant and unrelated to that specific play with multiple mistakes

keggerz
CAN you RESPOND to this please youre pathetic to be proud to be a cowboys fan after the fix Funny thing is though that the refs fixed the game to help the public side win.... it just goes to show you that TV Ratings mean more than what the Sportsbooks want/ need. Detroit also should have played better defense toward the end of the 1st half. Poor tackling led to Dallas getting that first half TD. Its funny Lions were only up 10 points at half but they totally dominated that 1st half. It really felt like it should have been a 28 point lead the way Dallas was getting blasted. business is business. i ain't hatin', just feeling bad for fans. this is for entertainment purposes only. well that's what they write on those weekly cards no doubt it was done to help Dallas. Guys posting well Detroit still had ball at end, or like Lb so stated earlier well where has that Star been last decade if Nfl needs it so bad. Dumb asses lol! Not like league can have absolute control on outcomes but certainly can influence it at times. And Dallas has sucked past decade and were not that relevant. Now that they are there is no doubt which side league was gonna bend for here ov a Detroit brand that has almost zero value for business. Let's not forget the no call when Dez ran onto the field without his helmet on disputing the flag for pass interference right after the play. It's clear as day and should have been a 15 yard penalty. I'm more shocked at that no call than i am of the picking up the flag. please check in on the FIX the integrity of the game is when i stop getting romantic about football man... Detroits in Shambles 1 mil dollar condos going for nothing in detroit because of crime etc... Dallas is most popular nfl team in the world.. Ratings Jerseys etc.... you really think after all these failed years and jerry world bill dollar stadium that at HALF time the head ref didnt get the nod... its only a number of people involved.. the nfl was hoping dallas could win without help.. but they made a point in the BEG of the game when aikman said we have a NEW officaition crew... that doesnt usually work together.. LMAO way to throw that in there.. like that even matters when is that even said.. it was obvious detroit gets that call.. one REF didnt get the nod only the HEAD knows the fix is in.. thats why the flag gets pulled back and a series of defense penalties to allow dallas to score in the end... please check in on the fix. If you think the game was fixed I can't help you. We're calls missed, botched etc? Yes they were, but fixed, no! I cracked jokes about Jerruh being able to stand in the owners box because his wallet wasn't weighing him down (implying he paid someone off)...but it was tongue in cheek. I'd like to ask you to do me a favor and either lose the schtick or see a doctor if it isn't a schtick. There's plenty of room in the forums for people to debate games and things that happen in them, even if they allow their homer views to jade them (not just Boys fans), but as it stands now, and by now I mean since you got here, you've not been someone that helps enhance the forums for everyone else.

Ok, so you refuse to entertain the idea that the fix was in at halftime with a select few.. mainly the head referee that demanded the flag to be picked up and a couple others. The less that know the fix is in, the more chances NFL keeps the integrity of the game. Business is Business man. It seems to me you don't even want to give one example on how I could possibly be wrong with my statements. Is it so absurb for me to present this notion? Do you REALLY believe that I'm trying to not contribute? I am man, I can agree to disagree.
