Grits and Shins Posted January 12, 2005 Share Posted January 12, 2005 With only 11 games I have adjusted the rules in an attempt to ensure that there will be differentiation between the contestants. Please read the rules paying particular attention to the FORMAT OF YOUR ENTRY. This is new ... so we will see how it goes. RULES 1. Pick ALL the playoff games against the spread as listed in this post. 2. The spreads listed in this post are pulled from USA Today. 3. The spreads posted here will be used even if they differ from USA Today. 4. The spreads posted by a Huddler will NOT override the spreads above. 5. The spread is the line for the HOME team. 6. Pushes count as losses. 7. Pick ALL the playoff games STRAIGHT UP. This means that you will be picking a winner for each game twice, once against the line and once straight up. 8. Rank your picks against the line. With 1 being the pick for which you have the MOST confidence and to which you want the heaviest weighting factor assigned. 9. Rank your picks straight up. With 1 being the pick for which you have the MOST confidence and to which you want the heaviest weighting factor assigned. 10. If you do not pick each game twice I will assume that your picks against the line and straight up ARE THE SAME. 11. If you do not rank your picks I will assume that you have them listed in order of rank with the first one listed being 1 and on down the line. 12. I will assume that the picks listed FIRST are the straight up picks. 13. Each pick you get right you will get the number of points that correspond to the weight you assigned to that pick. Weighting values are listed below: WEIGHTING VALUES FOR PICKS AGAINST THE LINE 1 = 10 points 2 = 5 points 3 = 3 points 4 = 1 points WEIGHTING VALUES FOR STRAIGHT UP PICKS 1 = 6 points 2 = 4 points 3 = 2 points 4 = 1 points There are no prizes, just bragging rights. I will tally the points each week and track YTD results. I will post weekly results and YTD standings on the main forum each week. FORMAT Please list your picks in ranked order with your straight up picks first followed by your pick against the line in the following format: STRAIGHT UP 1. IND 2. SDC 3. STL 4. MIN AGAINST THE LINE 1. IND 2. GBP 3. NYJ 4. MIN In the case above you have the most confidence in IND to win straight up and to cover. You believe that SDC will win their game but don't believe they will cover and have less confidence that the Jets will cover. You get the idea.
