rbmcdonald
Can nothing be sacred in this country? Â Â I believe that the founders of this country wanted one thing, and one thing only to be considered sacred (in a political sense) and that is the constitution. In my mind it is sacred. To change it to prevent someone from burning a piece of cloths, to me diminishes the value of both the constitution and the flag.
untateve
Can nothing be sacred in this country? Â Â Â It's sacred in China. It's sacred in Iran. It's sacred in North Korea. Or maybe sacred is the wrong word. Â I'd rather think that America is a bit different than these countries.
untateve
Worrying about this is a disgrace and shows just how out of touch those in washington are. Â We need term limits. Â Â Â With great pride, I proclaim...I agree with H8!

spain
Do other countries have fruitcakes out in the street burning their flags? Or is it just our looney left and other America haters who like to burn only the US flag?
billay
I would never burn a flag unless it was made illegal. Â Exactly what I was thinking. If they pass this amendment, I'm going straight down to walmart, buying a flag and burning it in the parking lot.
spain
Of course, the ironic thing is that the constitutional ban on flag burning is intended to pander to those same folks who like to rail against "big government" ... Â I am against a consitutional ban on flag burning AND I am against "big gobment". You might want to go back and check your latest poll Mr. Clinton.... spain
Have you looked again at Chavez's thread about getting his panties in a wad because his wife turned on a TV? Most people here seem to have about 8-10 TVs in their house, and point to them with pride. I don't think there's a whole lotta thinkin' about anything going on in this country any more. Â I dont care if you burn a 1000 flags, but I will not sit idly by as you slander my televisions!

dread
Exactly what I was thinking. If they pass this amendment, I'm going straight down to walmart, buying a flag and burning it in the parking lot. Â Â That's exactly what will happen...make it illegal and what will become the most seen protest? Â There are so many more important issues to be worrying about right now. Maybe once immigration, social security, Iraq, and tax reform are taken care of we can worry about some nut-jobs burning flags. Â Drives me nuts when our elected officials do this garbage. How about a little less micromanaging and a little more looking at the big picture.
spain
Cant the Democrats come up with some innovative ways of giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Flag burning and cutting & running are tired.
