Irks me even more, 'cuz I could have easily fit it in my carry-on... but the case that I had (from my older, bulkier Sony) was a pain. I never thought this would happen. Silly me. I've been looking at cameras recently and the SD630 was one I was seriously considering. Very nice. And then my Dad sent me a Nikon Coolpix S6 for Christmas...it is nice too! I can't comment on the canon, but I own the olympus. That's why I recommend it And previously, I had owned Canon point and shoot and sony digital. I just liked this better. But for the life of me...I cant understand why you guys put valuables in checked luggage. Way back in the day, about 15 years ago, someone stole a new baseball cap out of my luggage, after that I "Saran Wrapped" my luggage. You obviously can't do that anymore. But it became a lesson. My traveling days through airports these days are almost allways comprised of carry-ons. If anything is being checked on, I sort stuff as "replaceable" in my checked luggage and "un-replaceable" in my carry on. Sometimes if flights become full, they will make you gate check your boderline size carry-on during boarding. Even then I go through and take things out as necessary. No baggage handler is going ever see my Arteryx jacket, camera, DVD player, or lap top. it was a mistake i made ONCE, and it was sort of a last minute thing. it was a quick weekend trip, we had one bag we had to check and a little duffel. the camera was in the duffel. i intended to carry it on, but in the check-in line the wife was like "let's just check it so we don't have to carry it around", and i'm like i never wrote the nasty follow-up letter to the airline, but i don't suppose it's too late. The canon is a better camera, but the olympus is great if you need a water proof one. My polock buddy has one, he takes it snorkling and on his jetski all the time.
