J. Frank Wilson Lyrics

Last Kiss Lyrics

[Chorus]

Oh where oh where can my baby be

The Lord took her away from me

She's gone to heaven soI got to be good

So I can see my baby when I leave this world

We were out on a date in my daddy's car

We hadn't driven very far

There in the road straight up ahead

A car was stalled the engine was dead

I couldn't stop so I swerved to the right

I'll never forget the sound that night

The screaming tires the busting glass

The painful scream that I heard last

[Chorus]

WHen I woke up the rain was pouring down

There were people standing all around

Somethign warm flowing through my eyes

But somehow I found my baby that night

I lifted her head she looked at me and said

Hold me darling just a little while

I held her close I kissed her our last kiss

I found the love that I knew i have missed

Well now she's gone even though I hold her tight

I lost my love my life that night

[Chorus]

Woh (x4)

Ohh (x4)

I immediately thought of this one from the 80s:

(Sang from the little girl's point of view. The line "please don't tell my daddy, but my mommy hits me too" gets my goose each time. Still remember the song 20 years later)

A couple others

Alphaville - Forever Young (Cold War - Russia nuking us)

Depeche Mode - Blasphemous Rumors (teen suicide)

Jason Michael Carroll - Alyssa Lies (child abuse)

Morning Dew - various artists. Simple and sad. Has moved me to tears on a couple of occasions.

I actually had to go look up who wrote it. Bonnie Dobson is the name credited as the writer.

johnny cash, long black veil

Ten years ago, on a cold dark night

Someone was killed, 'neath the town hall light

There were few at the scene, but they all agreed

That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me

The judge said son, what is your alibi

If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die

I spoke not a word, thou it meant my life

For I'd been in the arms of my best friend's wife

Chorus

She walks these hills in a long black veil

She visits my grave when the night winds wail

Nobody knows, nobody sees

Nobody knows but me

Oh, the scaffold is high and eternity's near

She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear

But late at night, when the north wind blows

In a long black veil, she cries ov're my bones
