driveby
They are a mark of temporary insanity, instantly turning the classiest, chicest woman into trailer trash. Not for nothing are they known as 'tramp stamps'. They were once the ultimate symbol of working-class machismo, but now, even the wife of the leader of the Tory party has one. Yes, I am talking about tattoos, the most tasteless, tacky, tawdry, terrible plague to infect our nation since mad cow disease.

rajncajn
Whether they have them or not makes no difference to me. I like a good tattoo & I do think they can be classy as long as they have some real meaning to the person wearing it. But anything done in excess, such as tattoos, piercings etc, are certainly a turnoff.

Cunning Runt
Depends on the chick. If she's hot already, a tattoo makes her even hotter - to me anyway. If she's not, a tattoo makes her look even worse - again, to me. Edited November 6, 2008 by Cunning Runt
Riffraff
If it hides a scar or deformity, I can understand getting a tattoo. Or if you belong to a tribe in Africa or a Pacific Island, it's heritage. Generally, my opinion is that getting a tattoo is a sign of immaturity. Sounded good at the time... People's interests change over time. No one is the same person at age 14 that they were at age 4. Ditto for 24, 34, 44, 54, 64, etc. Hello Kitty may have been cute 25 years ago, but it's just pretty dang stupid nowadays. Got that tat of your favorite basketball team, the Seattle Supersonics? Oops, they don't exist anymore. I like what someone smarter than I said about Americans: Do you think Japanese people get English characters tattooed on their body? Exactly, few if any. If your conversation skills suck so bad that you need conversation starters, I guess you need a tattoo. Hey, is that a tat of Rosie O'Donnell (pick a random stranger) on your arm? You're so cool! Ever wonder if Rosie has a tat of you? Maybe you're not so cool after all. Other than the entertainment industry (movie/music stars, strippers, wrestlers, porn, etc) not many professions allow you to have visible tats. Kind of limits your possibilities as an individual. Though I believe Hot Topic is hiring if you combine the visible tats and visible piercings combo. Tramp stamps definitely do one thing: let guys know you're the type that they won't bring home to mother.

Delicious_bass
[JeremyGrey] "Tatoo on the lower back? Might as well be a bullseye."[/JeremyGrey] Seriously, as others have pointed out, I've seen some that look good on a slutty-hot college chick with a rock hard body. Eventually, that chick will be old, though, and then it is just not right to see grandma with a tramp stamp. Besides, I think tattoos have become pretty cliche now anyways... Swampnuts
I think they're finally heading out of style. Kinda like the tribal armbands and barbed wire tatoos for men did about 7-10 years back. It seems to me most people don't get a tatoo for any deep personal reason or to be original, they are just following the pack.
