I took a 4 month job in LA and needed a place to stay so I looked on Craigslist and found a house to share up in the Hollywood Hills with a beautiful view and had it's own entrance and key and you basically just shared the kitchen.

Went to get a tour of the place and the dude that showed me around asked if I was OK if my roomie was a bit famous and I did notice tyhat there were some paintings of nude women on the wall so I said no I have no issue with that and I am not one of those star struck people. he said good and said that is cool because she does throw a couple of parties and we want to make sure you are cool with that.

With him saying she def peaked my interest but nothing peaked it more when he said - by the way she is a Playboy Playmate. I was like schwing sign me on the lease.

It ended up being Devin Devasquez. Not hugely famous but was a Playmate and also won the spokeswoman title on Star Search so that also may tell you she is a bit older.

It was an awesome 4 months and she was an incredibly nice person. One of the nicest people I have ever met. One example is the first day I was there I asked if she knew of a decent place to go for a run and she asked if I liked to hike so I said sure and she said well get ready and let's go so we went on a decent two hour hike. I thought that was way above and beyond showing someone around and she was always as nice as can be.

She did have a party and my god were there some hotties!!!!

In 1 weekend in Vegas I played Black Jack with Gary Busey at the flamingo and we were both totally hammered. He was a very great guy. I played the next day with Rollie Fingers, he was a very quiet guy. The last day we met Mr Cub Ernie Banks going to his car at the Bellagio, he signed my buddies hat and offered to give us a signed bat but we couldn't get it back on the plane

Awesome weekend, the Bucs kicked the raiders ass in the superbowl that weekend as well and I cleaned up

A few I have met.

91 Pittsburgh Pirates. It was my Make-A-Wish to meet them so I went in the dugout before a game. Jose Lind, Jay Bell, & Andy Van Slyke were very nice. Bonds & Bonilla were kind of jerky. Everyone else was nice.

Rocket Ismael. Met him at a Make-A-Wish picnic. He couldn't have been nicer.

Mike Mussina. Big time A-hole. He was at a card signing event & he was all business. No chit-chat or anything with anybody. I also heard he left with a line of people still there.

My brother met President Clinton & he was very nice.

I've also met Regis & Mother Teresa but I was too young to remember them.

I forgot a few :

Goose gossage - probably the most accomodating baseball player I ever met

Dave winfield - won't sign autographs but took pictures with my son ...big guy

Wade boggs - quiet but accomodating and good to the kids asking for autograph

Tab ramos - very nice guy and easy to talk to

And whomper - ate lunch with him once and I even fed him part of his meal with my hands

I have met many Pittsburgh sports figures. To many to name but most were pretty cool people. I used to hang out on the University of Pittsburgh campus so I knew ever one of the players on the football and basketball teams for a number of years. Most of them were really cool people that I had good times with.

However, it almost hurts me to put this story to letters but there is one total ass-hole in my book that is a legend in Pittsburgh sports history. That would be Jack Lambert. He used to eat breakfast at a little dive near Three Rivers Stadium and my brother worked at UPS that was right there. One day my brother drove in to work to pick up his paycheck and took his little 10ish year old brother along for the ride. We had to kill a little time so we went to have a little breakfast to kill a half hour or so and way back in the corner was Jack Lambert. I was never star struck as I was around so many of these guys that it was not a big deal but Lambert was one of the few that I wanted an autograph from but did not have. I know that the Steelers had won at least one and most likely two Super Bowls by this time so Jack Lambert was a super star for sure. Anyway, I saw him and headed back to his table and very politely ask him if he would sign my NFL football that all the other great Steelers have signed. (I did not have the ball with me but it was out in the car.) He snapped some nut job that belonged in a mental hospital. He used all sorts of vulgar language to the guy that ran the bar and said things like, "I warned you about letting these ass-holes near me", and other pretty rotten stuff. He said nothing to me but I cried. My brother came back and got me. He then called him a effed up ass-hole. (My brother was my hero then and even now and I am pretty sure he wanted Lambert to get in his face as he was crazy protective of his much younger brother at the time.)

So the story ended with us just leaving but something very interesting happened about 15 years later. I played in some celebrity golf outing and the big wig from US Steel that had to back out at the last minute gave me his spot. The celebrity that we golfed with turned out to be Jack Lambert. I played about five or six holes but the entire time all I could think of was that day in the dive when I was a 10 year old. I could not keep it in and had to tell him about it. That was pretty effed up of me to do that at the event but I just had to let it out. He just listened to me and when I was all down with the story all he said was that he never asked for all the attention. I just shook my head and to this day I think he was a total tool that day. It kind of hurts me to say that but he was a great player but a tool in real life.

Met Johnny Carson in first class. I think we took the wrong seat, might have been his, but he was very nice. Very thin, pale, 1976.

Bill Cosby...Sat across from him in the LV Hilton's Coffee Shop. We casually looked at him, then he noticed and gave us a wave, came by later w/ a handshake.

Rosie...dam near knocked me to the floor in the LV Hilton barging thru the Casino. She did apologize.

J.C.Hooke (Crya'n Shames) shook my hand, but can't remember which one! :D (!966-67)

Steve McMichael/Wife....Almost knocked me down in the old days when you could meet/greet the players after the game.

Brian Davis...Got to wear his SuperBowl ring! :D

My fave was meeting Virginia and Ed McCaskey... Long story short, went to a Bear's convention back in the 90's. Stayed at The Hilton Downtown. Got our table in the restaurant, and low and behold we were sitting across from Ed and Virginia. My Bud and I walked the 5' and introduced our selves. As soon as we started to talk, Ed started talking to me about his physical problems. Stomach, kidneys, etc.. It was a little weird.

After dinner we went to the bar, had a pile of cash on the table and Virginia and Ed walked by us. Ed grabs our $$$ and keeps walking. We caught him before he got away, and grabbed his hand w/ the $$$. He looked at us, winked and said "I thought that was mine!" w/ a wink. Very...VERY nice people!

Forgot one.

Cuba Gooding Jr. when we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii at the Waikiki Outrigger. He was there to start the filming of Pearl Harbor. He asked my wife to join him for lunch until he saw that she was there with her husband (me). Chit chatted for a bit. I think he was with his manager or agent. Nice enough guy.

I really can't remember anyone all too incredible. The Asian dude on 21 Jumpstreet used to live next door to me. I turned down a chance to go out for drinks with Adam Sandler (he wasn't anyone yet). I've met Sean Rooks (basketball player) a few times. Been in the company of Dennis Rodman on many occasions. I saw Ron Jeremy at the movies. Um. Met Pat Riley, John Wooden. A friend of a friend is Matthew Lillard's sister. I'm sure I'll meet him eventually. Gosh, I really don't recall any major conversation with anyone. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Maybe I'll edit this.

My wife passed out on Trent Reznor's foot in New Orleans. :D

Oh, I went to school and partied with Jack Johnson.

Back in the eighties we met Bull from Night Court while out in LA for MSU's Rose Bowl appearance. He was a nice guy. We also saw Magic Johnson before the bowl game. He was tailgating with friends and having a few drinks. This was at the height of his stardom. I was a little kid at the time. When he saw me coming, I noticed that he slipped his drink behind his back. He talked Spartan football with us for a few minutes. Very nice guy. I've seen him around town a few other times, always nice.

I've seen Izzo around town a few times. He's always a good guy.

I met George Clinton during college. The guy liked to party. He sent us on a few errands for him. He then told us that we didn't want to share any of his stash. We didn't question that.

So...I've met a few. My greatest though, Luis Gonzales at the Rum Jungle. Talk to Master P on the phone...as an infant I apparently was held by Gov. Edwin Edwards (dude is still in jail).

I have seen Chuck Norris. Incredible...he held out his hand and crushed my trachea from 35 feet away.

I have also met Big John :D

Watched Wee Man roll some craps and snap his head up to his posse to see what he rolled. Funny. I saw Barkley and Nelly both in Vegas...different situations.

I have shot skeet with Will Clark and beat him. He was shooting a 28 gauge to my 12 but...a score is a score right?

I met Lee Corso also :OMG: I might have told this before but, I roll up into Catholic Mass, where I got married, after the LSU/Florida game which we layeth the smacketh in :BTW: (College Gameday was there) So we're late and we sneak through the back and I see a gap open in the last pew. I pull my ol' lady over there and this guy steps out and lets us in. I realize...my wife is standing right next to Lee Corso, he let us in. After the standing rituals are done and we go to sit down...and he hops back up and immediately walks to the back of the church. There wasn't enough room and he must have sat on the arm of the pew!!! Oh chit...I just jacked Lee's seat? Crazy...He must have picked against the Tigers...HA HA HA! I did go back there and asked him to go sit next to my wife...and he said no, not a big deal. He must be ghey :D

During my ticket brokering days I ran into several athletes and other stars and even bought tickets from some - Jerry Glanville, Fred McGriff, Hank Aaron, who were all really nice. Joe Montana was a oil and vinegar, but Jimmy Kimmel was with him and told us that Joe was sick that day. Daunte Culpepper was like a 12 year old in an adult's body - not mean or anything, just sounded like a 12 year old. Golfers tend to be pretty nice - even Vijay Singh happily signed a ticket for me at a PGA Championship. At the 2004 World Series in St. Louis I ran into the lead singer from Creed outside the Westin Hotel - he's a friggin midget.

I used to be in the entertainment industry so I've met many celebrities through mine or my wife's jobs. I worked for a well known director as his receptionist/3rd assistant (that's how you start out in "the business"). Several stories stand out, but the one that I found to be the most pleasant was Jamie Foxx. He had his show on the WB (?) at the time and was in to speak with the director about a role in a film. My boss made him wait for about a half an hour and we spent most of the time talking and shooting the sh*t. I found him incredibly genuine and my bs meter wasn't going off. He wasn't the Oscar winner at the time, but he wasn't forced to spend any time talking with me either. It left me with a very good impression in an otherwise harsh industry filled with many as*holes.

Actually was thinking about this just this morning...

I was a little kid and a HUGH baseball nut (at the time) and collected all sorts of baseball cards. Heard Joe DiMaggio was coming to sign at an event and bought a ticket. I waited patiently in line and stuck my 8x10 black and white photo in front of him and asked him to sign it "Joltin' Joe DiMaggio" ... he looked at me like I was insane, but said ok and signed it like I wanted. I can't imagine there are many autographs like that... He may have been a dilwad to many, but he was great to me.

I was on the plane with Michael Johnson when he flew to the Olympics in Atlanta. I asked the stewardess if it would be ok if I approached him about an autograph; she went and asked and came back and said "no, he's asleep". He waited until the plane was empty before getting off; most everyone knew he was on the plane and had waited until after he got off ... then, when he stepped out of the ramp into the gate, everyone started clapping and shouting, "Good luck", "Get the Gold" / etc. I never talked to him, though. I still get emotional when I think about how that gate just erupted in applause for him.

Met George Brett at a charity golf thing for ALS; was glad-handing everyone. Seemed like a real nice guy...

I met a SI's swimsuit model back in about 1993 at a ski resort (don't remember which one) while there on spring break; all of my friends were scared to death to go talk to her ... they thought she was Vendela but couldn't tell because she was about 30 yards away and had clothes on (jeans and a ski sweater). Not really having any idea who she was (they'd seen the recently published swimsuit issue; I hadn't), I just walked up and chatted her up; she was handing out orange juice for some sort of sponsorship. I pretended not to know that she was famous, so I just asked her about college, her family, etc. for about 5-10 minutes. I asked her if she'd be able to join us for some skiing, but she said she had to work. There is a chance that she made stuff up or my buddies were misinformed and she wasn't Vendela, because she did not have any sort of a Swedish accent and she talked about going to college somewhere in SoCal (UCSB?) and not being able to be very active in her sorority or to take many classes because she was "always travelling for work". I'm pretty sure Vendela didn't go to college in SoCal in the early-mid 1990s. Regardless, whomever it was was very pretty and down to earth. Wish I could remember who she was...

...regardless, my wife went to HS with a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader; my wife was the Homecoming queen and the Cowboys cheerleader was not. :divingboard:

Joan Baez-pretty nice

Mickey Hart-a-hole

Mark McGuire-my neighbor but only saw his mercedes

pull out from behind his iron fence. Never met. Other

neighbors had short chats said he was a nice

guy. His parties were LOUD and started after evening A's games

were done and kept me up all night. Lots of nice cars parked

on my street when he partied. I was never invited. Sometimes I

would find brand new baseballs in my backyard and not sure how

they got there.

I was gonna say, since you think soccer is ghey...funny you mention the most famous soccer player to ever live. Just come out of the closet already and admit you like it.

I don't think I ever said soccer is gay. I think the Europeans that dive and flounder like a bunch of sissies is VERY gay. I played soccer through high school, even played at Giants Stadium at half time of a Cosmos game. I met Pele at his soccer camp when I was maybe 10 or 12. Again, homos falling over without being touched and acting like pussslies is gay.
