darin3
I was going to toss DJ Quiks name out there too. I remember finding his CD on an airplane seat on the way to Arizona in high school for a hoops tournament. Greatest find ever.

Chief Dick
Rapture - Blondie It's funny you post this. First rap song ever in the modern form. I've always maintained The Blues are the root form of rap: just the music playing and your soul bringing words to the surface.
Puddy
Jam On It by Newcleus I think Puddy will agree. Nah...although I will admit to spinning on cardboard a few times with that playing on the boom box. Way too many to list but if I had a gun to my head to pick just one it would be...Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos by Public Enemy. I can't believe Eminem isn't in the mix in this thread. He's probably the GOAT after this last cd.
Seahawks21
No way I can pick just one. But I'll go with Ron C's Funky Lyrics. No way!! Haven't heard that name in years.
Seahawks21
I've got to say I'm pretty impressed. I expected a lot more Eminem, Tupac, and Snoop, but some of you are pretty well versed. The group that hasn't been mentioned that I think deserves some recognition is The Click. Hard to pick a favorite song of theirs, but how about E-40 Sideways. Oooh, Rest in Piss has to be up there as well. Scarface--Man Cry. Ok yeah, this could go on forever. I'll try to think of a better way to break some of these down. bushwacked
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=cfd_1249874644 It just occurred to me, the suckers had authority: If WestVirginia wasn't so white, building a compound, and overweight by 60 pounds, and sticky, he'd be rapping this tune. . No....no probably about it.... it is the only rap song I can stand. And your view on the Blues to rap could be right on. There is a school of thought on that. Kid Cid
this mentality is a bit outdated my man. I doubt any rap fan at the huddle even remotely identifies with the culture chit my 13 yrs old cousin and all her friends are fans and love lil Wayne, Drake all new artists rap/hip hop has crossed over to mainstream/pop culture for good Did I mention anything about the Huddle in my post? Do not lose site of the fact that music IS an integral part of any culture. If you ever stopped and thought that this or that song would make a good addition to the soundtrack of your life then that song is most definitely part of your culture. You can call it mainstream or pop, that just means that if you identify with it then you too are part of that culture.
