Watching David Muir on ABC this evening,  he said she was believed to be a transgender former student.

 

Another article I'd read said she'd only attended in 3rd and 4th grade and that there was nothing significant that was known to happen and no signs that anyone remembers if any issues.

Apparently "she" left behind a manifesto and was apparently very upset with Tennessee's Transgender laws. They'll be a lot more coming out over the next few days.

I believe that the last 4 mass shooters have been either non binary or transgender 

They need to start looking at mental illness

I'm not sure if the last 4 were but these were all non-binary or transgender liberal shootings.

Anyone who shoots up anything is mentally I'll but it's odd that these 4 have been Liberal Trannies. I didn't realize they were so violent. We were always told that they were very peaceful

Typical, people are dead and idiots are squabbling over nonsense, that goes for both sides. Of course nothing will change, far too many in the country want no restriction on guns and think the constitution actually says that. We don't care much about the mentally ill, certainly not enough attention from many close to these people that must see the signs. The system is overwhelmed for sure.

Last night on the news the said that authorities think they may be on a motive based on some writings left behind in her home (they called it a manifesto) that they had been reviewing. 

We may find out more, maybe one of the adults killed was the real target. Maybe the shooter just had issues with the school in general, and not any one person. Hmm reading now that one of the adults (Katherine Koonce) was identified as the head of the school.

My first guess is this has little to nothing to do with the school itself. My guess is this was an extremely disturbed individual who targeted a Christian school she was already familiar with and would be received with the most effect with the least amount of possible resistance. And her (the really bad word)ed up reasoning was that "Christians" are changing laws that are resulting in trans kids killing themselves and "Christians" needed to pay.

We are exacerbating the problems on all fronts and I'm afraid it will only get much worse.

Yes I saw that, its his normal way. My point was that people on both sides, including some posting comments here (including myself) take these situations and use them to push their political agenda. Whether that is "guns are evil" or "guns don't kill, evil/mental people do". 

We are never going to solve anything when we just bark at each other. Which is all that goes on here mostly, no different than most online discussions I've seen (mostly comments on news stories, doubt its much different on Facebook or anywhere else). 

I honestly don't even know if people want to address the problem or just speak their mind. Local news had a former ATF agent on talking about needing more control over guns, including restrictions on assault rifles and similar firearms. But he knows that is unlikely to be addressed, because one side is convinced there can be no law to limit their access to guns (even though many such laws have existed over the decades. He says things are just getting worse and it will only continue with no real end in site.

He said Tuesday the shooter legally purchased seven firearms from five different gun local stores, and that three of those seven weapons were used in the shooting. 

The shooter's parents were aware that the shooter owned one weapon, but were under the impression that the shooter had sold that weapon and did not own any others, Drake said. Police learned that the shooter "had been hiding several weapons within the house," he added. 

The shooter "was under doctor's care for an emotional disorder," according to the police chief.

That’s a long time to have resentment!

There no doubt needs to be stricter gun laws. Prior to purchasing a gun you should be required to attend gun safety classes, have field training and have a certain amount of certified range time. This along with stricter vetting, etc. All at the buyers expense. This also creates a cooling off period and would weed out those with bad intent. 

As of now I can walk into any gun shop, show my Concealed Carry Permit and walk out with any weapons in 5 minutes. They do run me through SLED to make sure I'm not a convicted felon, have no warrants, restraining orders, etc. It's obviously a little harder if your not permitted yet, but not hard enough. 

It's not the guns murdering people, it's bad people with guns murdering people. We need much stricter gun laws.

Wait, that sounds like reasonable gun regulations that the NRA and other pro gun folks are usually against. Training just to buy a gun, including hours on the shooting range. Then what would you require for a CCW permit?  Here in Ohio about 20 years ago there was no CCW, then they allowed it with strict rules, training, etc. In the past few years with a stronger GOP control in the legislature and more from the far right that was tossed aside, training cut to almost nothing. They used to be required to tell LEOs at a traffic stop that they had their weapon with them, no more. 

Yes it is far too easy for somebody to just walk into a store, buy some guns and then start killing people hours (or days) later. If you truly believe we need change you should probably consider who you are voting for and if they also want that change. Because I hear very few GOP politicians suggesting supporting what you just suggested.

Every state is different. I think we really need to start in these big Cities where tons of crimes are being committed with either stolen or illegally obtained firearms. The vast majority of these weapons were not legally purchased and are not legally registered. How do we disarm them or are we just disarming the millions of good law biding gun owners? 

It seems that people only care when it's little Johnny getting killed, the white kid.
