Your first ever draft

I was in a 16-team performance league. I had the 14th pick.

1.14 -- Kordell Stewart

2.03 -- Shannon Sharpe

3.14 -- Larry Centers (I read somewhere that he was a "good pass-catching fullback" and thought I'd found a real diamond in the rough)

etc.

I didn't win my league, in case you're wondering.

First year was 1995. Did no prep, had no clue what I was doing. Only thing that was concsensus was that Stevbe Young was the #1 ovrall pick.. every magazine, etc had that.

I got the #1 pick. So I took Young. Ten tem league. Second round comes around, I've been checking the names off of my list, and there is still a top ten overall guy on it, so I figure I am getting a steal.

I draft Brett Favre with my second pick.

I don't remember much else of that team, though, a few weeks in, I trade Steve Young for Chris Warren (RB in Seattle for you younguns) and Andre Miller (WR in Denver) right before Young is knocked out for the season with a concussion. I end up being able to make into 4th or 5th place once I added those guys.

Gosh, so long ago. I think I had Rashaad Salaam. That was back in 1992 before internet fantasy football. You needed to know about football because there was no internet to tell you who sleepers were. Sterling Sharpe was one of the top rcv'ers. So much has changed.

i think it was 2000. i drafted peyton first overall (passing on faulk and edge), which raised some eyebrows. it was kind of a weird league...6 teams, start 1 QB, 3 RB, 4 WR. so actually peyton was a golden pick because i was able to get good RBs (curtis martin, robert smith the year he led the league in rushing) even though i took marvin with my second pick and marcus robinson with my third :D. except for that mrob pick (he got hurt), every pick i made was absolute goldmine, mostly by pure luck. culpepper was my other QB (this was the first year he started), who i got with my last pick.

the result? i had a perfect 16-0 season, and had the league high score like 10 out of 16 weeks. so i guess i sorta did ok. :D:D

In 1998:

1st = Curtis Martin

2nd = Cris Carter

...don't remember...

6th = Fred Taylor (and I cut him two days before James Stewart got hurt and FT took over)

...don't remember...

...got 2nd in my division and lost the SB...

I can't remember what year it was exactly but it was Marshall Faulks rookie season.

I had John Elway

Marshall Faulk

Barry Sanders

Keith Jackson

Irving Fryor

I finished 5th out of a 12 team league. We didn't have Division's then just went by total points.

1994

1.06ish John Elway

2.19ish drumroll please.......Pete Stoyanovich (My logic, haha, was he was projected around 110-125 points and dividing that up over 14 games meant he was better than any running back. The flaw of course is that all the kickers project to those numbers more or less)

I did finish 6-8 for what it's worth.

This league still exsists and it probably was the worst pick ever. It apparently took me 11 years to get over it as I finally won last year.

I won our league the first year: 8 team total points after 17 weeks league.

My draft went alright, I picked in the 8th spot and took Terry Allen and Rickey Watters back to back.

I won when I plucked the undrafted Mark Brunell off the waiver wire between weeks 1+2. He had torn his knee in the preseason IIRC after posting that monster 1996 season.

I don't even remember who was on my team. It was expanded to 10 teams(TD only league). I think it was 1992 or 1993. It was when there were 18 weeks in the season and every team had 2 buys. Remember that?

We had no playoff system in place so I finished 9-9 and out of the money. We're trying to find all the records

from the league(I'm still in it). So I will probably know at the draft who I had on that team. Should be a riot.

in 2000......

Started off well by taking Marshall Faulk, then the wheels, engine, and transmission fell off the bus...

2nd: Curtis Enis

3rd: Cade McNown

4th: Derrick Mayes

5th: Germaine Crowell

6th: Stacy Mack

7th: Troy Aikman

8th: Raghib Ismail

I had heard that having a QB / RB hookup was supposed to be good..... :D:D

Most of these guys weren't playing the next year....
