BiggieFries
I'm currently watching the new Dane Cook special on Com. Central and I gotta be honest with ya... I haven't even cracked a smile much less laughed. But this guys is selling out massive stadiums and doing new movies every other month. I don't get the attraction for this guy. I'm sure he's a hell of an individual and I wish him all the success in the world because he does seem to be a decent guy, but he's not even remotely funny to me. I mean is it normal for comics today to laugh at their own jokes? Is he wooing the audience with his own laugh track? He must have one hell of a PR team! Have I gotten too old for these new, younger comics? Are younger people more easily amused than I was back then (only 10 years ago)? Have I lost my sense of hughmor? Can someone explain this to me? Chief Dick
Man, I was just thinking the same thing. Not really funny. If he writes his own stuff I like the way his material is written from a purely literary sense. I like the way he puts words and thoughts and phrases together, but it doesn't make me laugh. Czarina
I chuckle at his bits on Sirius, but Jim Gaffigan and Brian Regan are much better.

I've also seen Lewis Black live and I haven't laughed that hard in ages.

Chavez
I chuckle at his bits on Sirius, but Jim Gaffigan and Brian Regan are much better. Gaffigan is relatively new (he's become prominent in what, the last 5 years?) but I've seen Regan knocking around for 20 some years. Both guys ARE funny. PSULions
He starred with Jessica Alba in Good Luck Chuck, which was a dissappointment in the box office, so you may not be the only one that things he is NOT funny. It is pretty bad when a comedy that features Alba doesn't do well in the theaters. Good Luck Chuck
untateve
Dane Cook = unfunny. I don't get it. My wife says he's hawt.
Kid Cid
I don't get Dane Cook either but I did go see Frank Caliendo this weekend. He is a riot.

dabuffbills
Once in a while Dane Cook makes me laugh. Other times, he really doesn't tell jokes, he just yells loudly and acts crazy and people think it's hilarious. Personally, I like watching someone who is low key, like Dave Barry and Mitch Hedberg. isleseeya
still believe old school comics are so much better than the new blood i do like Lewis Black probably as much as anyone out there right now

Other times, he really doesn't tell jokes, he just yells loudly and acts crazy and people think it's hilarious. Personally, I like watching someone who is low key, like Dave Barry and Mitch Hedberg. I think this is the rub. I believe he's playing specifically towards his target audience (kids under the age of 25). You don't have to actually be funny to amuse kids. Just be loud plus somewhat obnoxious and this recipe could even make one of weigie's econ lectures sound funny. He's probably realized this quite some time ago and it's hit big time for him. AtomicCEO
I don't like him at all. and the Comedians of Comedy folks (, , , Zach Galifianakis) You missed a verb in that second sentence... you do or don't like those guys? I do. A lot. That comedians of comedy show was pretty good. Galifinackis stole the show. He does not have an album or video released that I am aware of, which is a shame. Other times, he really doesn't tell jokes, he just yells loudly and acts crazy and people think it's hilarious. Yeah... I never really liked Robin Williams either. Coke-fueled spastic yelling isn't really my style. But both of them have had their moments.
detlef
I don't know. We saw the Dane Cook show on a flight from Spain and thought it was hilarious. However, we were flipping through some channels on Saturday night and came across a few that were great. There's the dude who does the "Hot Pockets" thing and has been in a bunch of TV ads and shows. I think he was in some funny Rolling Rock and ESPN commercials Also, this other, very young looking guy who was talking about some crazy stuff. He does the rant about Google. Where he's pissed because his girlfriend goes to look up something like "Apples", and it auto-fills "Asian Anal Pron" the nanosecond she types the first letter. He seemed to mostly talking about things that you should feel guilty about finding funny. I'm bad at looking things up but I would watch entire shows of either of these guys. It's not as good as the Comedians of Comedy stuff. There's also better stuff online with him. The guy cracks me up. I wish there was more of his stuff out there. Also, I dont know how long he has been around, but does anyone know a guy named Mitch Fatel (sp?). I am not sure if he has any DVD's out but he is hilarious.
