Dalton isn't Tom Brady but he got a bad shake here.  He is not the Bengals biggest problem

He’s made a lot of money being a below average starter, he got a fair shake. Bengals know they aren’t signing him next year so might as well see what else they have on the roster. Now they know they have zero capable QBs for next year.

Agree.  At least they can get a better assessment of the WR with a better QB (that is not saying much), but at least Dalton can throw the long ball and has more experience reading defenses than the new guy.  Best shot for CIN WRs to show what they got.

My impression was that he was average to above average for many years, I don't know about this year though

I think it was the timing that was more the issue.  He was hoping to seek a trade and they benched him literally right after the deadline.  But I agree with you I won't feel too sad about him with the money he's made

How many games has his star WR AJ Green missed this year? Dalton has definitely gotten a poor shake. Too many teams think a HOF QB is waiting there in the next draft, just for them. Some times average is as good as you can do, and with the right talent may be all you need. Trent Dilfer wasn't as good as Dalton, and his team won a SB.

it is also the first year after the reign of Marvin Lewis who was a bigger issue with the Bengals than QB play.
