honestly don't know how to thank everyone for the kind words and help. Again, I'm not asking anyone for anything but you all are such great people, you deserve an update.

Thanks for the update. I know you feel the need to thank everyone, but these are caring people that may need your help one day. Congrats on the great decision to have the baby regardless of unsure prognoses. Best of luck and chin up.

Best of luck John! Wish I could contribute, but with having neck problems after my accident, now throwing my back out on LABOR DAY :D and supporting my brother in law I have about all I can handle presently. I will say a prayer for you and your family. Remember good things DO happen to good people, like someone said.....chin up John!

Update from Club Friday

Just a quick update. The specialist tried to squeeze us in to go over our concerns with the procedure but he had an emergency with another patient that prevent him from making the appointment yesterday so now we have a regular appointment scheduled for this coming Thursday. He has also tentatively scheduled the procedure for after the meeting. I'll keep everyone posted after that. I just can't keep going over this stuff, it is so draining.

Feel free to disseminate the info to anyone concerned I just need a break from all this right now so me and the daughter are going to head up to check out my mother and grandmother while my wife does her charity auction tonight (I'm really proud of her, she does volunteer work for kids with terminal cancer and tonight is their big silent auction - if you want Dionne Warwick's autograph :D let me know, she's MCing the event).

Again, I can't thank everyone enough for everything.

Well I wanted to update everyone.

We went in on Thursday and met with what they call an MFM which I guess is a gene/OB specalist and did another ultrasound. The cyst on the baby's neck is either getting smaller or was not as large as they thought on the previous ultrasound which diverted this from the 100% routine pregnany my wife exeprienced 4 years ago to the present situation.

At this point unless we are looking at something that puts my wife's life at risk or the baby will be born with a fatal genetic discorder(s) called Trisomy 13 or 18 then we are having the baby. We don't kneed to know before she's born if she will have Downs or not but if we have to have the amniocentesis on the 18th of October we will find that out as a matter of course. We aren't going to do any testing just to see if the baby has Downs.

All the other tests have come back negative. No cystic fibrosis, no physical deformoities. We have a follow-up with the specalist again on October 18th where they will do another ultrasound. If that next ultrasound is normal, we are hopefully done until the Ides of March, the ironic due date of the baby. If that ultrasound is abnormal, they want to do an amneocentisis which is the same cost as the CVS($2,400.00) to rule out the T13 and T18 disorders.

To the money aspects of all of this. Short version, if we have to do the amneocentisis on the October 18th I will lneed the donations, if not, I would like to send them back to everyone or we can come up with an alternative charity or some type of fund. I have a few ideas in that regard. These two visits with the specalist cost $900.00 but we can make budget changes to absorb that. That's a b*tch financially, but nothing more. We cancel our camping trip, which the doctor would probably have us cancel anyways, I eat leftovers for lunch and no extras for the next two months and we have that.

Al, I called you the Thursday night but got a full voiemail. If you all want me to hold the donations let me know, otherwise, if it is fine with everyone, I'd like to just leave them where they are at for now (or I can deposit them into a dedicated savings account or something at my bank). I cannot tell you how much just knowing it's there if needed has helped us. We will only use the money if it is a genuine medical necessity. I wish to be having a conversation here about what else to do with the donations on the 19th after a normal ultrasound on the 18th. There's nothing I want more than to not need the donations.

We have confirmed its a girl so her name will be Shelby. I liked that name better for a boy but it is so rare that my wife allows any decision to go my way that I wasn't going to hesitate when she said she liked the name.

Thank you for all the support. It's been an all-around trying time since the day after I cast the deciding vote to turn a free league pay (I have weird points of reference) but nothing has helped me be more to be in as positive frame of mind as I can be than you folks. Seirously. I will be forever indebted no matter what happens.

Club,

My prayers go out to you and your wife in going through this situation. My wife and I literally just went through all this over the last two months. We are pregnant with our second (due Jan 29). She had a lot of issues up front and due to chromosomal issues on her side of the family we also had to do a CVS test. My wife's little brother and cousin both have Downs.)

We had a CVS test with our first, but all the results came back normal, and were blessed with a beautiful little girl 17 months ago. However, this last CVS test didn't go well, and came back with two abnormal cells out of 40. These two cells were missing the lower half of Chromosome 13 which could have resulted in either severe deformation, severe retardation, or a still birth depending on if those cells formed part of a major internal organ like the heart......Literally scared the crap out of the both of us!!!!! Like your situation the doctors recommended an amniocentesis, and after having that test, the results came back normal..........We were fortunate enough to have our insurance cover all but about $1500 of this. I know the fear and stress it caused us, and I don't have all the job loss stress or financial issues you're facing, so you guys will definitely be in our prayers.

I need to transfer some money to my PayPal account, but plan on helping as well.............God Bless to you, your wife, and your children!!!!

Club, I think I speak for everyone here when I say to hold on to the money. Stash it away in a bank account to use if the need arises. If it ends up doing nothing more than to give you & your wife a little piece of mind then that's making better use of it than it would us splurging it on our own lunch breaks. In the meantime we'll all continue to pray for that day when you can help decide what to do with it.

+1, or just give it to Shelby, be a cool story to tell her one day!

Absolutely, I am certainly fine with that, or give it to Shelby like Hat Trick mentioned.
