99 + weeks on the unemployment with no job offers in sight. So I think i will start a brewery! Mailed off my application to the Feds yesterday, and I have an interview with the California ABC board on Monday. Time to ruin a hobby in hopes of some cash!! LOL

Details:

It will be a 7 barrel brewery or a nano-brewery as they are called now. Serving beer out of the tasting room. I live in a coastal beach community with a ton of wineries and wine tasting shops around but nothing for beer. This has been something the wife & I have been talking about for years now.

I should know the results of the applications and interviews in about 90 days.

Cheers!!

If you get up and running please share the details of your location, hours of operation, etc. I'd make a point to visit your establishment.

+1. I have that dream as well, but it is tough to ditch the full-time gig.

If you want to talk recipes, hit us up. There are a bunch of homebrewers on here. I've got a Deschutes Abyss clone going right now that is the bomb. I've also got an American Barleywine recipe that will knock your socks off. My normal (reg abv) beers are just that, normal...

Thanks for the support guys. I am going to start with 3 beers. A Pale Ale, A Robust Porter, and an Amber or an Irish Red. I will have a Stout to debut in the 2nd month, and a Saison for the 3rd month. Bottles, kegs, and tasters at the tap room. One of my friends in the brew club owns a beer distributing company and he will help me get into accounts to start out with! but for now distribution will be out of the tap room, and a few deliveries of kegs to bars and restaurants. I already have 3 accounts just based off of tastings of the homebrew so I am well on my way. Low overhead, got a smoking deal on rent in town. I will be looking into doing some barrel aged beers too.

Location is in Cambria California along Highway 1, south of Monterey, north of Santa Barbara/San Luis Obispo.

Feds received their 40 page application packet yesterday!

To quote Pearl Jam: 'the waiting drove me mad!'.
