Chief Dick
wrong forum newb. Sorry, I was watching a football game and a variety show broke out.

Catfish
They really should have done a little more promotion for Jay during last night’s game. 15 to 20 more promos would have not been inappropriate.

matt770
Always preferred Letterman myself, but Leno's street interviews are sometimes good for a laugh... "Who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?" "Ummm, I don't know." "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?" "Sponge Bob!!"
chester
Just curious. I don't generally watch any late night tv, but I've certainly seen him before. Why would he leave the Tonight Show to do basically the same thing? Isn't The Tonight Show considered the cream of the crop for late night tv? Or is this new show very different? AtomicCEO
Just curious.I don't generally watch any late night tv, but I've certainly seen him before. Why would he leave the Tonight Show to do basically the same thing? His contract renewal didn't happen (didn't follow the details), so the producers of that show brought in Conan, and Leno moved to a new network for a new contract. Much like football. Big John
His contract renewal didn't happen (didn't follow the details), so the producers of that show brought in Conan, and Leno moved to a new network for a new contract. CaP'N GRuNGe
It was probably cheaper for NBC to bring Leno back instead of filling an hour each night with a new show. Much like reality TV is cheaper than producing a series.
budlitebrad
He robbed Howard Stern with the jaywalking bit [Leno voice]No, that was a Steve Allen bit.[/Leno voice]
rocknrobn26
[Leno voice]No, that was a Steve Allen bit.[/Leno voice] True and that was called "Man on the Street".
AtomicCEO
Both shows are on NBC. Oh, then it just must have been a contract problem with the Tonight Show producers.
CaP'N GRuNGe
They also didn't want to lose Conan to another network and he was in line for the gig.
rocknrobn26
They also didn't want to lose Conan to another network and he was in line for the gig. FWIW, my refs: 1) Letterman . . . . . 2) Leno . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3) Conan...he's such a pompous ass. If he has talent, I don't see it. Face it...after Jack Parr, Steve Allen, and Johnny Carson, the rest are "also rans" at best. They at least were original. 'Cept for Letterman's Top 10 (and even that is questionable), the crap Leno and Conan put out is copy....copy....copy!
SLAYER
Can someone tell me when Leno achieved Rock Star status? and they wonder what is wrong with the flucking world.
Czarina
I think that Leno made this agreement that he would step down several years ago, in order to make way for Conan who NBC didn't want to lose. I think that some of Leno's bits, like the street interviews are funny, I just can't stand the way that man delivers a joke though. He gives the punch line then does that stupid head wiggle and goes on to explain it or add to it. He just can't let it stand on its own. Drives me nuts. Big John
No rock star status Leno dropped from prime time
WaterMan
Conan obviously has writing talent to have been on the Simpsons.
Grits and Shins
I can't believe that anybody really thought his show would cut it in prime time ... I know I certainly didn't. Obviously Jay got a little full of himself.
