New England taped Rams' final walkthrough before 2002 Super Bowl?...

Seriously. Even if it happened, does filming a walkthrough give a team that much of an advantage. I'm pretty sure you could show the Lions practices of every team, and tell them the plays that were going to be run, and they'd still lose. It still comes down to executing on game day. The Pats have done that for years.

In our society, cheating, lying, and being completely absorbed in your own interests pays off... just ask Bill Clinton, Barry Bonds, and Bill Belichick. If you feel compelled to rationalize their actions and explain them away, then so be it.

barry bonds was arguably the best hitter in baseball BEFORE he started pumping the roids. so i guess that means it's ok for him to cheat too?

since when is it your right, or Goodell' obligation, to make private league matters public?

did you conveniently forget what Goodell said as to why the information was destroyed?

He had no reason to destroy them..If it leaks out wheres the harm? The Patriots already had the information, how would it give a competitive advantage to anyone else?If it didnt give a competitive advantage to anyone else, whats the use of destroying them?

Where is the logic?

you don't need the U...we can tell your intellectual prowess from your post... :D

destroying film of a football game equals destroying a murder weapon... :D

why not just come right out and say "I'm stupid" and save the rest of your keystrokes...

Sorry but my educational background and my bank account say two different things when it comes to your comment. Your Stupid and your really broke. People are going to jail on a daily basis for a lie. And getting some serious time in some instances. If you think about it he did this to possibly cover up something that is so big that it could possibly hurt the NFL big time. Not only that but put it on the same pedestal as the NBA, NHL and Baseball. Its not a bad thing the money still coming in. BUT the juggernaut they were will be all for not then. Especially if it would have gone to a crazy Congressional hearing. Could that destroy the NFL in one word possibly. Would that put it to the level of a murder weapon yes, because it ends the uniqueness of the league and possible kill all of the head of steam it has. You need to use your brain and see the play on words stupid.

That's pretty much the argument.... "Well, they may have had a competitive advantage over their opponent, BUT they still had to execute."

And if that logic fails the no sh1t test, then there's always the "Well, they may have cheated BUT everyone does it so its not a big deal."

Much ado about nothing. Just more BS to ruin what should be a really great game to watch. I am sure that HGTV has some great shows on during the SB for those of you that have decided to condem on the word of some malcontent looking for attention and without any sort of proof.

Me... I am ready for some football.

Once again I find myself appreciating the wisdom of skylive5.

I think this coming out is bad news for the Giants... The Patriots are going to absolutely run up the score tonight.

funny, this was my reaction, too. as we've seen for years, especially this year, no team thrives on -- hell, even seems to get off on -- slights and "disrespect" more than the pats. i wouldn't be surprised if belichick slipped a few bucks to this muni golf pro deadbeat walsh to come out with this rams story just so the pats would have even MORE reason to unleash hell on the giants. speaking of, i think this is going to be a f'n bloodbath like the start of "gladiator" when the romans just brutalized the german goths.

bet the over, gamblers...bet the over.....

First off...just because a person can't spell or use grammar correctly doesn't mean they are stupid, skinpig. Secondly, I don't care if something could ruin the "integrity" of the league, it is still in no way comparable to murder. Everyone is getting mad and riled up over speculation right now. Honestly, the only reason this whole thing about the Rams Superbowl was brought up was to create a distraction and piss off people. Why wait until the day before the Superbowl to say it? The seed of doubt has already been planted in people's minds from the "Spygate" incident from earlier this year and if this information is true (which I don't believe it is) why keep it secret until a day from the Superbowl?

Everyone knows that anything that is said about the Patriots related to videotapes and cheating will be believed automatically now. It doesn't matter that we do not have many facts on the whole situation, nor will we ever. All that matters now is that the seed of doubt was put into our heads and will always be remembered if someone says "the pats cheated again." People will always believe they cheated in any situation...this information was held back on purpose to try to make people mad before the Superbowl, or it's fake and was made up to create a distraction right before the game.

If youre suppose to have a knife fight and the other guy brings a gun ,is that fair?

from all i understand, every single team in the league was using knives for years...only belichick was smart enough to finally trade up to a gun.

Because Goodell wouldnt respond to letters or phonecalls for the last 2 months concerning the isssue.Thursday was the first chance to question him.

I'm really surprised the Giants made it public where they are having their walk-through.

The integrity of the game simply cannot be compromised like this. Period. They should have thrown Belichick out of the league 19 weeks ago.

IF WALSH HAS VIDEO, BELICHICK DONE FOR A YEAR

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that, if it turns out that former Patriots employee Matt Walsh has in possession video of the Rams' final walk-through practice from Super Bowl XXXVI, New England head coach Bill Belichick will be suspended.

For a year.

Wow.

If Walsh has a such a tape, and if Belichick knows or suspects that he does, it could have a profound affect on Belichick as he prepares for the final act in a possible 19-0 season. We're not saying that it'll affect his coaching in any way; it might actually make him more focused and determined. But the knowledge that this game could be his last one for 19 months, and possibly his final time on the sidelines with the Patriots ever, is likely something that not even the modern-day Bud Grant would be able to conceal.

Indeed, if Belichick knows that he's toast, he might opt to retire before "Spygate II" hits the fan. And he'll be carrying those thoughts somewhere in his brain throughout the day and night in Phoenix.

And given that the Patriots have issued a statement calling Saturday's report from the Boston Herald "absolutely false," evidence to the contrary might compel owner Bob Kraft to fire his head coach on the heels of a fourth Super Bowl win in seven seasons.

Though plenty of folks are questioning the timing of these new disclosures, the fact is that if there's any truth to the report and that truth comes out, the guy who'll pay the biggest price is Belichick.

Either way, this is something that needs to be investigated quickly, so that if there's nothing to it the Pats and Belichick can have the cloud of suspicion removed.

Wait.....

Isn't this a rumor about the SB that was played in 2001?

So how would a rumor that came out in 2001 after the SB that the rumor refers to be from before it happened?

Typical Az rhetoric.

Because the Patriots played in the Super Bowl in 2002, not 2001.

I had the same question. I thought maybe you were talking about a different team.

So, if there was an "unfounded rumor" about the Pats cheating in 2002, and then they were actually caught doing it in 2007... wouldn't that actually lend credence to the fact that it was NOT unfounded, instead of promoting the theory that it's all made up?

I think your indignant attitude is a little unfounded here... but I guess we can wait until after the Superbowl to debate it.

Ah, but if Walsh indeed has such a video, you think the league is actually going to see it? They need to monitor this dude's bank account if they haven't done so already. I'm wondering if Walsh has a new Swiss bank account.

...Comparing this to Watergate? Dude, get a grip and get back on the medication.

It is just a game and has, for football fans, significant interest. It was a comparison re: the actions of higher authorities destroying information that may or may not be important. In terms of actual or National/International importance, not even close! But, you are the one that needs meds if you can't make the connection. It is a perfect and uncomfortable comparison, probably why you attack it... Typical :D

I agree with the idea that bringing this up is yet another "rallying point" that an aging team needs to get them a little extra fired up. It is almost transparent that it would be released by a Boston paper before the SB and not another media source. Hey, any extra edge... right? They came out like a PO'ed swarm of bees against the Chargers when spygate broke. I won't say that is alone what won the game for them, but I'm sure it didn't hurt!

My earlier post is based on how I have felt as a result of actions taken by the League based on what they knew, OBVIOUSLY the Pats violated the rules or there would have been no penalty! Why not release what they saw/knew so we could understand why the fine was levied and to what extent. The $ was nothing compared to what NFL teams OR Bel-I-cheat make and a "first rounder" in a year they have two? Yeah! That hurt them BAD! :D

And as relating to "private league business", I'm sure that argument will hold up when I try to avoid paying my taxes and destroy all my personal records and thumb my nose at the IRS. Millions of dollars are invested and bet on these games and they are as much a public entity as anything else. Casino's that cheat intentionally have crimminal implications they would face. I am not sure and have too much to do to research it, but destroying evidence that MAY (I am not sure) have crimminal or civil implications is WRONG. What the Pats themselves is probably niether, but what the Leauge did might!

Once again, just like the "accidently erased" portion of the Watergate tapes (or any kind evidence intentionally destroyed from ANY if that makes the va-jay-jay feel better), why was this information destroyed so that none of us will ever really know what happened and what their decisions were made on??? Riddle me this!

You want me to trust Goodell and the NFL (and all the big business behind it)? :guns::moon: No F'n way! Hey, I work for the Federal Government and I don't even trust them! (Keep your friends close, your enemies closer :brow::brew: )

Regardless of what happens, if the Pats win tonight, it will go down as the greatest single season ever. I don't argue that at all!

BUT

Like I said in an earlier post >>>

Bum, buh bump bum

Bah bah Bump bum,

People say believe half of what you see

Son, and none of what you hear

Just placate me on one thing and I'll drop it like a flaming turd (and not the kind like after eating too much hot sauce and jalepenos).

WHY DID THE LEAGUE DESTROY THE TAPES/EVIDENCE?! Make it convincing, make it make BELIEVABLE!
