My wife recently called me a shoe whore, so I was wondering how many pairs of shoes / boots the average guy owns. Also, what kind of breakdown in shoes ie dress, casual, athletic, etc.. What are your favorite brands?

2: Work Boots (Timberlands)

7 :Sneakers (crappy shoes from spammers, Adidas, (2)KSwiss, (2)Columbia, Timberland)

3: Flip Flops/Sandals ((2)Oakley, Reef, Clark knock off by AE)

5: Dress (Cole Haan, (3)Kenneth Cole, Bass)

that is off the top of my head and honestly there are probably a few pair buried in the closet that I haven't worn in ages

14 total. Well, hell, I just thought of 3 more, so make that 17.

Brand of choice? Cole Haan, easy. I have a pair of black dress loafers, brown dress loafers, chukka boots, brown lace-up, olive green suede loafers, and an older pair of black ones that I cook in.

The rest, flip flops, tennis, running, 2 other assorted athletic shoes, hiking, work boots, nice sandals, "dress sneakers" (for lack of a better name), black dress boots, older pair of black loafers that kick around in.

Since I started running again, I've picked up a few shoes along the way. I have my work shoes, sandals, and a whole mess of running shoes now. I usually have two active pairs of running shoes and a few retired pairs for bumming around.

Judging by the range of your poll, I'd say your wife is right.

I thought I'd be on the highest side at around 12-13, but that's barely into the meaty section of the ranges you created.

She normally is. I'm just hoping twiley will show up and make me feel better about myself.

ETA: I was actually the one that voted 31-35 but that was just off the top of my head. :headhelddowninshame:

My closet probably doesn't look like your normal women's shoe closet:

2 pair of hiking boots (Danner and Montrail)

4 pair of trail running shoes (Montrail and Vasque)

2 pair of trail hiking shoes (Merrills-one G-tex, one not)

2 pair of street running shoes (Pearl Izumi and Saloman)

1 pair of court shoes (New Balance)

2 pair of casual tennies (K Swiss and Sketchers)

5 pair of slip on mocs (Merrill, Saloman, crappy shoes from spammers and Bass)

3 pair of sandals(Airwalk, Chako and Keen)

6 pair of casual dress shoes-no heels (Born, Cole Haan, Dexter, Ecco, Clarks, and Naturalizer)

2 pair of old shoes for gardening (Reebok and Adidas)

1 pair of golf shoes (Footjoy)--I golf in trail shoes and haven't

worn these in years

2 pair of Sorells

1 pair of Ugg Boots

Total of 33. I also could add one pair of downhill and 1 pair of cross country ski boots, and one pair of cycling shoes to

total it to 36.

Edited to add the Sorells and Ugg so 33--I polled myself at 26-30.

3 pair of flip-flops, would be 4 but I lost a pair a few weeks ago.

1 pair of crappy shoes from spammers cross-trainers that I use for my "runnin' around" jobs and to work out (rare these days)

1 pair of soccer shoes

1 pair of basketball shoes

1 pair of top-sider Sperry dock shoes

1 pair of Vans

1 pair of Converse

1 pair of sandals for hiking/water

1 pair of hiking shoes

1 pair of boots (Ariat, and badass)

and then... probably 4-5 pair of dress shoes, 3 of which really get used... and even then, it's rare nowadays
