darin3
Funny thing is, having a baby kind of turns you into one. All I wanna do is eat, crap, sleep and cry.

I Like Soup
Camille Josephine, like her mama, is apparently a night owl, deciding to join this world at 4:23am on February 21st, 2011. She checks in at 7 lbs., 8 oz, and is happy and healthy. Mom's resting comfortably at the hospital and Dad's about to get some much-needed rest. Those of you fortunate enough to be my Facebook friend can check out her mug there. Congrats Darin! I'll have to give you a call next time I'm in town and check out the little lady! CaP'N GRuNGe
A little late, but Congrats Darin! Having kids really does change everything. A lot of work, but very worth it.
tazinib1
Does this mean I won't be getting anymore drunken text messages from you and Big Country while at the WCOFF? I mean the prospect of you being responsible now really bums me out. Cause, ya know, its all about me and my feelings. You're gonna make a wonderful father buddy. Congrats again to you my friend. darin3
Mini-update here... Camille is doing great, unfortunately she looks like her daddy (something she'll hopefully grow out of). Mom is trying to adjust to not getting much sleep (if any). Dad bought a shiny, black 2004 Corolla for safe baby transport. We will attempt to escape the confines of the house this Saturday, as a new brewery is opening near us (in an industrial park) and they're having a grand opening with free tastings and BBQ. Hoping to re-emerge into the wild later the following week, as it's my favorite time of the year here in Austin: South by Southwest. This will be the first year I won't be immersed in free beer and free music all week. Happy for the reason, of course. Updated pics/videos consistently being added to Facebook for those that have nothing better to do. That is all. Good night now.
darin3
Quick update: we were apparently practicing "accidental parenting" and going with the flow a bit too much. We had no idea why she was so fussy, and attributed it to gas and perhaps colic. Turns out she wasn't getting enough sleep. She's now 9+ weeks old and is on a better sleep and eating schedule. She is an absolute doll. Those of you that are Facebook friends are welcome to check out updated photos and videos. My wife went back to work on Thursday after her maternity leave expired. I will be playing Mr. Mom every other week, as my part-time work schedule is pretty consistent. And, in closing, four words for you: 19 year old nanny... darin3
Another quick update here... Camille is a couple days short of 7 months old. She's been sleeping pretty good, except when we feed her sweet potatoes ... THAT was a horrible night. She usually wakes up at around 5 or 6am and a quick pacifier replacement gets us another hour or so of sleep. It's like a human snooze bar. This morning, it was 5am and she wouldn't go back to sleep. Since I've been becoming more of a morning person I got up to really work on her getting back to sleep. She's been teething, and the cries sounded like they were from teething pain. Went to rub some of the gel on her gums and felt a tooth just breaking through! Yesterday, she got her ears pierced. Next stop, college. For those of you on Facebook, here's a current pic She's definitely a Daddy's girl and that's quite alright with Daddy.
Big Country
Very cool update Darin. Teething sucks... our little guy (almost 9 months) has more teeth than any baby I have known, I believe he is up to 8 teeth... our friends 15 month old just got his 3rd tooth. Anywho, easy to tell when a new one is coming in as he is fussy and does not sleep well. Is she getting to be a bit mobile now, crawling or scooting around yet? Yeah, she's got the army crawl down pretty good. The legs kind of kick a bit but she'll need to get them moving better to be into a full-on crawl. She'll scoot up to our black lab, who has been showing a lot more interest in her lately, and will laugh and grab at her fur. Our dog is so sweet... she'll lick her hands and face even with getting manhandled pretty good. That reminds me, I need to upload that video and post to Facebook. Stay tuned. As soon as she starts dropping food, etc., they will be beyond best friends. My dog was very good and wouldn't beg like a whomper party guest up until my oldest decided it was the best thing ever to get the dog to come over by dropping food from the high chair, and then once he was walking, he'd leave the trail of Cheerios so the dog would follow him everywhere. my little guy has 8 teeth too. and that little bassturd uses em, too. feeding him is like feeding a gator. Yup, he's drawn blood from my wife while breastfeeding once or twice.

Word of advice, don't use the gel, it hardens the gums and makes it harder on them in the long run. Try Hyland's Teething Tablets. You should be able to find them at Walmart or any drug store. Also, if you can find some soft, no sugar added dried fruit it works great. We used to give ours homemade dried bananas sliced long-ways and stored in the fridge. They make a bit of a mess mess, but they work great for soothing the pain and helping those chompers break thru.
Bier Meister
mostly tongue and cheek, but can't think of a reason to pierce a 7 month old.
twiley
mostly tongue and cheek, but can't think of a reason to pierce a 7 month old. To each is their own. Think we'll wait until she's 8 or 9 maybe older.
rocknrobn26
We're going thru this together...sort of. You as Dad and me as PaPa. All I can say is wow. Owen was over last weekend and I was eating an Italian beef. It had too much meat, if that's possible, and my daughter said "Give him some!" I went . She said just make it small pieces. I did and the kid ate like a field hand!! I couldn't shred it fast enough. Enjoy my friend! Even though you beat my ass bad in Homarrrrsss!
