DMD
This will be the official thread where you can compete to win not only a free membership for the Huddle, but also the respect and esteem that you may not otherwise get from this board. The Rules: This is REALLY, REALLY important. For picks 1 to 15, list out the selections for every pick by placing #pick Position Player Last Name, college Ergo it should look like this format: 1. QB, Rodgers, CAL 2. QB, Smith, Utah 3. WR Edwards, Michigan and so on Not 1. rodgers not 1. rodgers qb not 1. QB aaron rodgers, CAL etc. etc. Copy this for your selections: 1 pos, Lname, school 2 pos, Lname, school 3 pos, Lname, school 4 pos, Lname, school 5 pos, Lname, school 6 pos, Lname, school 7 pos, Lname, school 8 pos, Lname, school 9 pos, Lname, school 10 pos, Lname, school 11 pos, Lname, school 12 pos, Lname, school 13 pos, Lname, school 14 pos, Lname, school 15 pos, Lname, school The winner will be the one that gets the most players overall correctly selected in their slot. Tiebreakers are a. longest run correct from the start b. most correct in the top 10 The winner gets a free 2005 membership to the Huddle. The whole respect and esteem thing is probably pretty iffy anyway. this thread will be locked at midnight before the draft starts. Good luck. Caveman_Nick
Just to add a little insight into my picks... 1. QB, Rodgers, California - Hometown kid, fanatic for the franchise, and the franchise seems to like him. Not a lock to be a franchise QB, and a mistake IMHO, but this draft lacks the type of impact player SF needs. There is no Carson Palmer type here. 2. WR, Edwards, Michigan - This is where Minnesota jumps up and spends those 2 picks to get a receiver that will never be Randy Moss. And there are 2 sides to that coin. 3. OLB, Johnson, Texas - Romeo Crennel. Why would Romeo go against all the things that he has learned over the years and grab 'the best QB on the board', who is only being looked at this high because of a lack of options at the position? Romeo and his GM go defense and manage to grab one of the top 3 players on the board, and a staple in his defense for the next several years. 4. WR, Williams USC - Chicago is glad, glad, glad that Edwards is gone. They fear the Spirit of the Terrell, and are much happier to have Williams. Lots of people have speculated a pick at RB, but there is a much greater need to give Rex Grossman some Help. Thomas Jones might not be Barry Sanders, but he can hold the line for a couple of years while the rest of the offense develops. 5. RB, Brown, Auburn - Ronnie Brown is probably the best RB on the board, and the Bucs need an RB more than they need to spend another pick on a developmental project at QB or on a WR that wasn't one of their top 2 choices. 6. CB, Rolle, Miami (FL) - What doesn't Tennessee need? Take the best player, and that's Rolle. 7. QB, Smith, Utah - Now we're talking. Smith falls because nobody reeaallyy wants to take him very early, and the Braintrustfart in Miami thinks they are getting a steal of a deal at #7. Good job boyz. 8. CB, Jones, WVA - Travis Henry gets done, and Az gets to fill a need. Pac-Man will replace the recently departed Starks, and hopefully with less time on the Injury list. 9. OT, Brown, Fla. St. - Washington's biggest problem in life last year was a bad, bad o-line. They will try and fix it early. 10. DE, Merriman, Maryland - The Lions aren't known for their draft day wisdom, but we'll give Mooch a little credit. DEs have been going like hotcakes the past few drafts, and he'll grab what he thinks is the best at the position. If they can all remain healthy, the Lions have the playmakers on offense, so it's time to get on the otherr side of the ball. 11. DE-OLB, Ware, Troy - Bill Parcells, big, fast DE/OLB type to play in the 3-4. It's the right match at the right spot in the draft. 12. DE, Pollack, Georgia - They say SD needs help on offense. They could get younger at WR, but there are good 2nd round prospects worth waiting for. They could use a little more defense in a highly explosive AFC west. Polloack's main job will be to eat Kerry Collins for lunch. 13. RB, Benson, Texas - People probably think I am crazy with Benson falling this far. He's a great prospect, but I am thinking the NFL teams are starting to learn that a good running game does not necessarily start with a good runing back. At this point Benson is hard to ignore, though. The Texans have had problems with Domanick Davis and spent more time spelling him last year than most people think happens when a team has confidence in their every down back. Benson gives them better stability at the position, and Davis becomes a great 3rd down back, which is really his design. 14. RB, Williams, Auburn - You didn't really think next season would feature Nick Goings, did you? 15. CB, Rogers, Auburn - There are several good defensive player on the board here. Even if KC grabs Surtain, though, they will need DB help in a division that was just elcomed Randy Moss to it's ranks.
