I was awakaned at 3AM last night by an old Dr. who claimed he had a DeLorian that could go into the future. I know it is hard to believe, but it happened. I found a Sportsbook, but the only thing I could get out of it before some guy named Biff took it from me was the result from this year's Super Bowl. You can thank me later for making you all Millionaires. Jerome Bettis had accomplished a great deal in his career, but one big piece was missing. That piece was a Super Bowl ring, and on Sunday Jerome and his teammates made sure that the Bus got that final piece. “It feels really good to go out a winner, and to do so in my hometown makes it all the more special. My teammates really stepped up for me, and I am forever grateful.” Jerome Bettis was named the MVP of Super Bowl XL by pounding the Carolina Panther defense for 187 yards on 32 carries. 2 of Jerome’s carries ended up in the endzone. The Steelers defeated the Panthers by a score of 31-14. The Panthers got on the scoreboard first, as Jake Delhomme led the Panthers to an 8 Play, 74 Yard drive ending with a Deshaun Foster TD run from 4 yards out. The Steelers would answer right back though, as they pounded the Panthers on the ground, with ‘The Bus’ putting the finishing touches on the drive and scoring from 6 Yards out. Possibly the biggest momentum changing play of the game came next. The Panthers were moving the chains and had moved from their own 33, all the way to the Steelers 10 Yard Line. Delhomme went back to pass and was drilled on his blind side by Joey Porter. The ball bounced loose and was picked up by Troy Polamalu, who raced 83 yards for the score, putting the Steelers up 14-7. Both defenses played well and the score remained Pittsburgh 14, Carolina 7 at the half. The Steelers came out fired up in the 2nd half. Ben Roethlisberger was on target, as he led the Steelers on a 7 Play, 80 Yard Drive. The big play on the drive was a 45 yard deep slant to Antwaan Randle-El. On the very next play, Hines Ward got himself wide-open on a hitch and go route. Roethlisberger’s pass was on the mark and Ward was in for the score from 22 Yards out. The Steelers extended their lead to 21-7. The Panthers were able to bounce back once again though. Although the ground game was not working, Delhomme continued to find some success through the air. He led Carolina on a 78 Yard drive, ending with a 34 Yard TD pass to Keary Colbert. This pushed the score to 21-14 with 11:00 left in the game. The Steelers took over and turned to the Bus. Bettis grinded out 54 yards on the drive, and his final one, a 1 Yard TD plunge put the Steelers up by a comfortable 28-14 margin. The drive also took over 8 minutes off the clock, putting the Panthers in a position where they needed to score quickly. After moving the chains on a couple of completions, Delhomme attempted to hit Steve Smith on a deep post route, but Chris Hope stepped in front of the pass. The Steelers drove into Panther territory and Jeff Reed booted through a 45 Yard Field Goal, pushing the Steeler lead to an insurmountable 31-14. Jake Delhomme tried frantically to push the Panthers down the field, but he threw his 3rd interception of the day, this time to Deshea Townsend. Roethlisberger kneeled down, and in only his 2nd year as a player, he was a Super Bowl winning QB. After 27 years, the Steelers finally earned on for the thumb. After the game, Jerome Bettis announced that it would be his last and thanked the city of Pittsburgh for all his support.
